From the NYT article:

a football program so powerful that many people, including the president and other university officials, stayed silent as crimes were committed rather than engender bad publicity for the team; and an athletic department that did not comply with federal laws concerning the reporting of and protection against suspected sex crimes.

I guess I see some similarities there. I'm not saying the programs' problems are equivalent, just that there are some similarities.

Wow. A Penn State football coach is caught molesting a boy in a locker room shower and the school decides to do nothing. The cops are never called, no one is fired.
How in the hell is that the same thing as a sexual incident that is investigated by police the night it occurs and the later by the university which expels no one?
