Griz men vs SDS TV?

Just listened to the pre-game interviews of coach Cobb and DeCuire with Riley Corcoran. Several interesting facts offered: SDSU has the longest home-court winning streak in the country (26). The last team to beat them on their home floor: Montana in 2013. Additionally, Cobb and coach DeCuire said that "this region is the most difficult in the nation to win on the road... for reasons I can't speak of..." Hmmm. As in what happened to the Griz against South Dakota last season? That said, both Cobb and Deuire said SDSU is probably the best offensive team Montana will play this year (better than Creighton!) and Daum is the best offensive player in the country, but that Jenkins (Griz recruited him two years ago) and Flatten probably have higher NBA projections. It'll be a tough game, but strong hints that Akoh will be back and... that Montana should have bettere open looks at the 3 than in past games. Go Griz

Daum was legit (for a mid-major under-sized white Power-guy). There I said it. Yeah he's a baller and a gamer and does all the little things that pay off in college, but once you get to the NBA none of that matters. He'll get a look, but I don't see him as a legit NBA-er for long. See:Nate Wolters, who they said the same thing about.

SDSU has had 5 NBA-ers ever (just like Montana) and you REALLY think they have 3 potential NBA-ers on this years team? Gimme a break about Flatten and Jenkins. They are quality complimentary Mid-Major D1 contributors, but have ZERO NBA potential. You really think Jenkins is better than Rorie or Oguine? Or Will Cherry? Or any guard on Kentucky or Duke? I can see the hype about Daum, but let's not get crazy here.

Double-checked and there was some fudging by pre-game announcers tonight... eliminating conference games as Potomac Griz clarified. I took the pre-game hype as meaning all games. But yes, Sacstatesman, I was mistaken in that I interpreted it as all games.

This makes more sense....I was curious because the other figures didn't add up....no problem, just wondering.....Thanks

ZIRG: Having watched the game, my initial thought is that Daum, Flatten & Jenkins on the SDSU squad are marginal prospects at best. FYI, I generally don't make player assesments. But I DO share info regarding players that I read about elsewhere... and I read in several publications earlier this season that Daum in particular, and the other two as longshots, have been scouted as NBA prospects. I also listened to the Grizzly pre-game show and responded to specific info by Montana coaches. That's the extent of the info I shared pre-game.

There have been two Montana players in recent years that I considered having the tools to play in the NBA... Brian Qvale and Kareem Jamar. Qvale came the closest, but decided against pursuing potential roster status with Charlotte. Regardless, I always thought both had a chance. I higly respect Will Cherry as well. I guess this season will determine if Will gets a shot on an NBA roster.

Short answer: No. I do not think any of the SDSU players is better than Rorie... Oguine... Cherry... or Jamar... or Qvale. Regardless, I always think it's cool when a mid major player makes it in the NBA.

Me too Journal, just like FCS players, I root for all these dudes that don’t play Big Five Ball. Good Post.
