What we're seeing is the tip of a nasty iceberg...Everybody else with the exception of the lousy Idaho State and UNC programs have stepped it up while our Griz are doing little more than standing in place
while also dealing with the fall out from a whole lot of totally unnecessary distractions. The preeminent
D-1 BSC/Montana program is no longer in Missoula. And that sucks...
I view it exactly the opposite. We're on our third head coach in 4 years--and had to pull a 70 year old who hadn't been a head coach in 20 years out of retirement at the last minute. We've lost our AD. We have a new OC. We have a new DC. We lost our starting QB and had to count on a RS freshman who'd never thrown a college pass. We lost 10 of 11 starters on defense. We're dependent on 15-20 freshmen and redshirt freshmen to win games. The team/players have had to deal with the off-field distractions associated with multiple legal charges and NCAA, DOJ and DOE investigations. And yet here we sit, 3-3 (be COMPLETELY HONEST, before this season started wouldn't you have been tickled PINK if we were 4-2 right now, given our schedule and what we were up against? We are a recovered onside kick away from 4-2)...90% of the programs in American would have hit that "iceberg" dead on and be sinking right now into a decade of 2-9, 3-8 seasons before they finally recovered, if at all (go ask fans of formerly successful programs like MSU, Idaho State, Georgia Southern, Youngstown State, etc., etc., what it REALLY feels like to have hit the iceberg).
But here we are...defending BSC champions, national semifinalists from just 10 months agao, sitting at 3-3 and despite all that adversity we are poised to be 7-3 going into the 'scat/Griz game...that hardly looks like the Titanic to me, 'tip.
