Griz may be down but the Big Sky is loaded

What we're seeing is the tip of a nasty iceberg...Everybody else with the exception of the lousy Idaho State and UNC programs have stepped it up while our Griz are doing little more than standing in place
while also dealing with the fall out from a whole lot of totally unnecessary distractions. The preeminent
D-1 BSC/Montana program is no longer in Missoula. And that sucks...

Funny how everyone "stepped up" the exact same time the Griz faced major adversity.

My god we we're Big Sky Champs last year and just barely fell short of Frisco. Let's give it at least one season before we're talking about a total program collapse. LoL

The ship be sinkin' Captain!!

Remember one thing.. Its Silvertips opinion!

I view it exactly the opposite. We're on our third head coach in 4 years--and had to pull a 70 year old who hadn't been a head coach in 20 years out of retirement at the last minute. We've lost our AD. We have a new OC. We have a new DC. We lost our starting QB and had to count on a RS freshman who'd never thrown a college pass. We lost 10 of 11 starters on defense. We're dependent on 15-20 freshmen and redshirt freshmen to win games. The team/players have had to deal with the off-field distractions associated with multiple legal charges and NCAA, DOJ and DOE investigations. And yet here we sit, 3-3 (be COMPLETELY HONEST, before this season started wouldn't you have been tickled PINK if we were 4-2 right now, given our schedule and what we were up against? We are a recovered onside kick away from 4-2)...90% of the programs in American would have hit that "iceberg" dead on and be sinking right now into a decade of 2-9, 3-8 seasons before they finally recovered, if at all (go ask fans of formerly successful programs like MSU, Idaho State, Georgia Southern, Youngstown State, etc., etc., what it REALLY feels like to have hit the iceberg).

But here we are...defending BSC champions, national semifinalists from just 10 months agao, sitting at 3-3 and despite all that adversity we are poised to be 7-3 going into the 'scat/Griz game...that hardly looks like the Titanic to me, 'tip.

Way to ruin everyone's existential crisis, AZ!

Very good post, AZ. UM appears to glanced off the iceberg, but is probably taking on water down below, which will have to be reassessed later.

Whatever the speed of your modem, the era of dominance has been replaced by a black, demi-god who hails from Ireland.

Although the decision is up to the selection committee and it's early in the season, the current TSN bracket projection has 5 Big Sky teams (including Montana) headed to the playoffs.

I'd love to see 5 teams get in from the Big Sky...and not only get in, but win some games. That would make a major statement about the strength of the conference.

LOL. Just called Jonestown and there's still enough Kool-Aid left for all those failing the reality check.

I think you got it backwards. It's the "ship be sinkin' folks" who take the koolaid. :thumb:

Captn. left a note claiming we ain't sinking. I think he is right on. I don't feel us sinking cause the boat seems straight to me. Lots of silly ones looking to jump ship. Hell man, I am staying on!

Now, has anyone seen the Captn?

The ship sinkin' analogy is perfect considering that some posters go overboard when they shoot first aim last - like responding to posts they either don't read or understand. ;) Yeah, we see a lot of that.

Wow. Send in the Whaaabumlance. Ridiculous.

Montana set a gold standard for the FCS and former 1-AA. Isn't that good thing? Montana dominated their conference and a huge part of the FCS for years, which was fun, but probably not a good thing if you actually want to get better. The Big Sky is forcing Montana to continue to get better, which is good for other schools and Montana.
