Griz - Lumberjacks Thursday night

Any Griz fans have insight on current road conditions between Great Falls and Missoula?

I am contemplating making the drive over to support my alma mater on Thursday afternoon. The Griz and Jacks have both been playing better as of recent so I'm hoping for a fun game.

I check the mt.gov highway conditions website often but firsthand info/experience is more helpful.

Game prediction: If NAU plays defense like they did vs. EWU and the first half of the PSU game then they win. If not and memories of the painful 4 OT loss to PSU linger, then the Griz win.

Any help would be appreciated.

All I know is that there could be a lot of rain next two days in the valleys. could be freezing rain. Freezing level is suppose to rise. Prediction is for Missoula to get about 1 inch of precipitation next two days. Higher elevations (passes) could get a lot of snow or rain depending on freezing level.

So, drive slow. Take your time.

Thanks for the scoop. Hope to make it but will definitely play it safe weatherwise.

Jack:

I drove from Great Falls to Missoula yesterday and will be going back in a couple hours. Yesterday everything was dry from Great Falls to the top of the pass, then it was fresh snowpack all the way to Missoula. It wasn't a lot of fun but it wasn't terrifying either. I just throttled down.

I will try to post about this again when I get home tonight. I imagine you won't do it until tomorrow?

Griz8791 -

Yes, if I go to Missoula I won't be leaving Great Falls til somewhere around 1-2 pm tomorrow. Will make the decision once I get into Great Falls.

Info would be greatly appreciated - thank you.

From a friend he drove from GF to Missoula several hours ago:

The roads are clear. Rainy and wet. No snow or ice on the roads.

MT Jack --

I'm back and concur that it is mostly bare, dry on this side, very wet on the Missoula side. I found some ice in the tricky shady spots between Lincoln and Mineral Hill but it's nothing you can't handle if you leave the cruise off and pay attention. You 'll be ok leaving Great Falls at noon tomorrow. I sent you a more detailed PM about this.

Thanks.

You Griz fans (and Montanans in general) are pretty decent folks apart from the vocal lunatic fringe griping about how horrible it is to have 14-2 football seasons.

About as bad as a 1st round playoff loss. Crazy, I know.
