Griz lose to Eagles 69 - 68

Anthony Johnson scored 28 points but his 5th foul proved very costly. Eagles made 1 freethrow because of the foul that turned out to be the winner.

Anyway, message board is back. There were some messages lost, though.

bummer Griz had to lose. Now a game back of UNC in third place. Griz can tie WSU if win out and WSU loses out. that would be a miracle. I can't see ISU beating WSU in ogden.

UNC has two home games and a road game. Griz have two home games. Second place is certainly a possibility but destiny is not in Grizzly's hand here. Hopefully, EWU and PSU can fill the spoiler role next week.

Destiny? toss up some more cliche while you are at it.

I am not so sure that the loss to EWU is a bad thing. Playing an extra game at home with only two games in the last two weeks could prove beneficial. The only thing worse would be having four games in the last two weeks.

Good point, there! Plus, they're not playing the tournament on 3 consecutive nights like they have in the past, so there's more time for a lower seed to rest from the earlier game. But the trend heavily favors the top seeds. Since 03, when the current tournament format (playing 1st round at home sites) was adopted, the 1 and 2 seeds have played in the championship 5 of 7 times, and a 1 OR 2 seed 6 of 7.

The host has won 4 of 7, the 2nd seed 2 0f 7 (MT in 06). In 05, PSU hosted, yet lower seeds, MT beat Weber for the championship.

MT also won as a lower seed in the 2002 championship played on 3 consecutive night in Bozeman.

Bigtyme: I basically agree with you but......I thought the same thing last year after losing NCU on the road. Here we had the chance to defeat the Cats three times in one season. And we preceeding to end our season with to one game losing streak to the Cats after dominating them in the regular season. OUCH. As long as we end with three number we're okay but four /five could make a difficult semi.
