Griz Kudos

Kudos to the Griz for pulling off another win against Portland State on week 12 last Saturday. It was a good win, no question, but I have to agree with 'Copper Griz' (Sat 5:18p) regarding lack of discipline. I haven't seen such an undisciplined performance by the Griz, particularly in the first half and on both sides of the ball, for a long time. I also think that's mostly on the coach(es), not the players.

What was the "un-discipline" you saw? The gun-shooting in the end zone wasn't much and usually isn't called. He apparently didn't point to the other team. I didn't see what Fife did on his penalty. What else was lack of discipline? I can't recall. I know it was 12-105. Griz have 12 more penalties than Cats for season, and 12.7 more in penalty yards on average per game.

I'd like to see less penalties.

On the topic of finger guns: I didn't see Fontes cock back and drop the thumb hammer on top of his pistol finger. If he did, it was only once and- as we all know- it takes repetitive thumb action (maybe three thumb hammer drops) for that to be an unsportsmanlike. If he just pointed the finger gun, like I saw, I think you let that slide as a ref. I bet Bobby talked with the team about finger guns this week.
