GRIZ/ISU game 2 thread

"Montana dodges the bullet." 62-61 on the last missed FT by Hatchet. Rolled in, rolled out. We won by a missed FT for ISU. That's pure luck.

While I will take the win I question what we learned from slowing the ball down at Portland when we were clearly in control and one other time that I can't remember who we were playing.

Idaho State has a great future under Bill Evans, although MSU beat this team 66-60.

The Griz played a "journeyman" game, competent, but not inspired. And they almost threw it away by playing like they had won, not like they could lose.

.

You guys, they didn't play not to lose. Any coach in the world would have gone to a hold ball offense there. We were not driving the ball well and Kareem was injured and obviously not 100% . we were better setting up one good play and trying to get one good look or 2nd chance points. We had 8 points to give. We were bot being sucessful driving the paint with and injured Jamar and a solid rotating d of isu. We didn't execute well but that does not mean it was a bad way to play. Isu zone was stopping us from penetrating. Give credit to isu for the good D and fighting back. Hard fought win tonight. Bad officating as always and we did it with Jamar only getting 12points. Mario Dunn is gonna be a stud

Sorry to disagree with you mtgrizfankb but Wayne also said in the post-game that "we lost our aggressiveness" and they did lose it by slowing it down.

A nail biter that never should have been, but a win is a win. Gotta get the next two @ home against the T-birds and our favorite felines and it will be interesting to see who we face in the BSC tournament...

UNC is making Sac State look very good. UNC offense is playing undisciplined and all out of sort. This is the worse I've seen UNC play this season.

I can't tell what happened at Bozeman with Weber. There were only three posts on their game thread, and nothing is updated on their official site. I gather they lost, and nobody even cares there anymore.

Wow, another close win 62-61!!!! Wayne now 2nd in all time wins for the GRIZ.
This is a terrific achievement by a great coach, considering the "competition."

Tense last few minutes. Griz won when Jamar had an off night, that's a good thing that they could get the win. Dunn is going to be a force, and Gregory was solid too. Little to no scoring presence underneath. That ISU defense made it real tough for the Griz to get inside.

"The Griz (14-11 overall) led 28-24 at intermission and stretched the advantage to 10 points twice, both times on jump shots by Mike Weisner. But the Griz grew complacent while the Bengals slowly whittled the lead down to a single point, 61-60, with 57 seconds to play."

Jamar:" Once we got up 10, I think we got stagnant and relaxed,” Jamar said. “When it’s a close game, you have to be fundamental, but when we went up 10 I think we sat back and held the ball. We didn’t move it as much and we stopped attacking. When you stop attacking, their defense is so good at clogging things up that they can just sit there.”
