Griz @ Idaho State: Game Thread

Congrats to ISU on playing a complete basketball game and beating the Griz where needed, at rebounding.

Seasons over, time to drown my sorrows. Expect a not so sugar coating post the next few days. I am PISSED, we cannot shoot fts, rebound, or execute offensively. All this despite having the best post players in the league. Stay Tuned!!!!!

I am a bit disappointed in the season. I sure expected more. I think Tinkle is a little bull headed about feeding the ball inside. We should play a bit more perimeter if the guys are always open.

I think Tinkle's days are numbered around here.

Even worse, we did no better than Pat Kennedy this year did with Towson State. Oh where oh where are the Tinkle bashers? I expect them to rear their ugly heads soon. Hate to say it but they are sure looking much closer to right now. (God give me patience to read the next few days of crap we are about to see here. )

You know, I think if the griz really did stop and work their offense each time down the floor the threes would come more easily. What seemed to happen all year is they would take ill-advised threes too early in the shot clock and that left our guys out of position for rebounds. Perhaps had they actually moved the ball inside for more touches we would have been there to get the carom of the rim. Now, had the rebounding issue been only for a few games I would think that just happens, but when it is game in game out the problem there is a coaching problem, and that could be a fault with Tinkle or a problem with some players not respecting him. Either way I hope this gets fixed next year. I really don't want to even feel this crappy about a Griz team for a long time to come. Something just wasn't right about this team from the second game on, it's really too bad, we just lost so many games because of poor fundamentals and a lack of mental toughness: rebounding, execution, and free throws.

What an incredibly disappointment this season has been. I hate to say it , but the best thing I could possibly say about this season is thank god that its finally over. Congrats to the Bengals and good luck.

I am at a loss. I expected more from this team this year. Even the coaches and the media expected more from this team this year. I would like to thank Martin and Strait for their commitment to the griz. Strait will be very hard to replace next year. Martin had some good games, but is more easily replaced in my opinion. Year three in the current regime, and we really need to see a 20 win season.

Went down to the wire guys. Great job during the season. You have some great players and we got this one barely. It is always a good fight with the Grizz. The competition is getting better each year in hoops and FB and it will come down to the end of conference play. You guys take care. GO BENGALS

I think he has a point ISU is a program on the rise, especially in football with coach Zamberlin.

The below blurb is from the Missoulian. Martin had 16 points in 17 minutes. Don't understand why he didn't get more minutes.

“Matt Martin and Staudacher had great jump-shooting nights,” ISU coach Joe O'Brien said. “Matt Martin looked like a man on a mission. He made some really, really highly contested threes. When we contest Matt Martin, he's 6-foot-1 and the guy guarding him is 6-6, so he made some tough shots.”

Martin ends up 2nd on UM's 3-point shooting list, 4 behind Criswell. Without those poor shooting games late in the season, or with another game or game or two, he would have moved passed Criswell.

If there is a positive to be taken from this game, it is that Matt Martin would not let this team die in his last game. We can honestly say "Matt showed up for the battle fully loaded." Too bad a few others did not, and let him down.

BTW, earlier I posted to expect a not so sugar coated post from me after this season. Since then I have calmed down, and sorry to say "It is not going to happen."

I respect these players and coaches too much to add onto the ripping these guys are taking here. In this case, I am going to take the high road and keep a few of my thoughts to myself here. I am back to supporting these players, coaches, and program 100%. No need for me to be a jerk about the disappointing end the last 2 seasons.
