Wayne may have coached the best 10 minutes of his coaching career so far. Strategically he had the perfect calls, and fouled all the right players. The next to last inbound play was brilliant. Idaho inbound player was in a terrible corner. Wayne smartly put his longest defender on the inbounder. Andy Martin's length made for a very difficult pass which Dunn got his hands on. That frustrated Idaho, and led to Dunn getting last steal too.
Players executed great in the 2nd half on both sides of the court.

I honestly don't see any speed or quickness difference between Cherry and Dunn. Amazing the GRIZ have landed both these guys the last 5 seasons.

Disappointed with our lack of focus in the 1st half. There was paint peeling at halftime. But loved the focus in the 2nd half. The guys never lost it.
We knew spuds would use clock the final few mins. Went 1-3-1 and got steal but missed the layup. We stayed in that to speed them up, and we were successful in getting it down to one with a chance to play D and win the game.
Was amaxing to see how our guys responded. Got boosts from Mario, Brandon. At times Brandon played the five. Disappointed in the bigs, so we rolled the dice and put some warriors in who can make plays offensively. Madison was great and really hurt us.
Dunn looked a little like Will C, and that's what we've been asking for. We told the guys sometimes its more than Xs and Os, but you just gotta reach down and grab a couple.
Both teams took advantage of the new block/charge rules. Great to see Jordan doing that. Our FT % and aggressiveness were big. We've gotta find a way to rebound the ball, though.
This game gives us a boost. But we've got a long way to go. At half, we challenged the guys' toughness. We told them that right now we're pretenders not contenders, and they responded. Hopefully we can improve in the areas we need to as we go into conference.
Late in the game we wanted one trap and then foul if needed. Don't get impatient. Andy did a great job of taking away passing lanes and Mario did a great job with the steals.
We had a tough preseason schedule and accomplished some goals, but we've got a long way to go on D and on boards, but we can draw on this experience come league play.
We work on time/score situations all the time and it showed. The guys didn't panic, got key stops and made FTs.

Griz 18 of 18 at the line in the 2nd half. Wow!
What was a frustrating first half (almost turned it off) became a great second half. The Grizzlies never gave up led by Jamar, Gregory and Dunn. These guys never gave up and had no quit in them. The clutch free throw shooting won the game (including Hutch's 4 for 4). Idaho was 18 - 33 from the line and it killed them. I can see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel but we still have a long ways to go. We have got to rebound the ball!!!!

Why, it's cause for drinking, even!!!!!
Note: the author uses "cause for drinking" liberally, and therefore such a declaration should not be assumed to suggest anything miraculous. Or, frankly, even noteworthy, as the author often describes the mundane as "cause for drinking". As in, the dryer buzz indicating the clothes are dry is a "cause for drinking".

Andy's wingspan has to be about 6'8" or so.
That was a well-executed final two minutes of the game. I did not think that could happen. Just flawless. These kids really have heart; you could see it when they started to take good risks and get the baskets and fouls. Gregory is very good at that. On defense too, he knows just when to stand still and take the hit.

Dunn was exceptional on the two inbounds plays. Great comeback.
First half rebounding was atrocious. We played good defense and then gave up rebounds again and again under our own basket. Bring back Rodman from N. Korea and teach us how. Idaho constantly had three guys under our basket.

Gregory's defense and his "basketball IQ." I couldn't agree more. He doesn't see where his opponent is, he sees where he is going, gets there first, plants his feet and leans back to maximize the effect.
