Griz have 2 Payton Finalists for first time ever...

Ehhh disagree. Out of the three Griz, I think Gillman is the best player in the nation. Hands down, but lately it has turned into a QB award. KAY might win but I don't see any Griz winning it unless they make it to the Semi's. and he has an insane performance in the playoffs.
Are playoff performances included in the selection?

Based off stats alone, neither Griz is winning this award and probably wont be invited to Nashville for the ceromony. If i had to guess at three finalists, id say Jr QB Brungard from YSU, Sr QB Payton from NDSU and So RB Dye from SUU.
Yeah pretty slim chance I think. Too much spreading the ball around from our offense to really give either guy the stats needed to win it.

How in the fucking world is Gilman not on this list? Shaun Rainey posted his stats. They are better than 99% of those running backs. I am hearing Craig Haley plays a huge role in these lists so now I’m starting to wonder!

30 seems like a lot of finalists. I'm surprised there haven't been two on the team before. I know John Edwards was a finalist in 2002 and Yohance Humphrey was in 2001.
Also Selle and Reynolds were both on the watch list in 2010, though maybe they weren't both finalists in the end?

Congrats to both. Well deserved. But I still think that Eli Gilman is our best player. He continued to make big plays even tho defenses loaded the box.
I agree he is a good player. But, if they are going off of stats, he is down the list a bit amongst running backs in the FCS. I know we can argue that if he just got more carries and all that. This would be true for most top and good running backs throughout history. The best advantage Eli has had is that he has not gotten injured and he has been able to play. That is huge for him. These types of awards are very subjective, at best, anyway.

So Eli accomplished as much or more than any of these guys with less carries in a better Conf against better defense with probably a worse O line. Such a crock of shit.
