Griz get Beach Slapped

MT Jack said:
The Griz are better than some think and not as good as as some think. But 19-8 overall, 11-3 in conference, two wins over Pac-10 competition and in first place with only a few games left is an accomplishment, though. All signs point to UM hosting the tourney but it won't surprise me to see N. Colorado, Weber State or NAU make a run.

By the way, thanks to the Griz for not finding room for Eric Platt when he was looking to transfer from U of Wyoming. NAU basketball and their fans thank you for that.

Grizbacker1 - Coach Adras is no Calipari-Krzyzewski-Rupp hoops god clone but who is to say the man and his family just aren't happy where they are? If Tinkle stays in Missoula for the next 15+ years and keeps the Griz consistently in the hunt but doesn't win multiple NCAA tourney games, will his career be a wash like you imply Adras's has been? And is a 4-2 record for the month of February truly "tanking"? Geez, what kind of expectations do you have - constant perfection?

Don't confuse this pin head with logic. He responds more to invitations to needlepoint parties. If you had ever seen him in person, you would understand. The dude hasn't seen his feet in years, and he donated his brain to science before he was done using it. When his IQ reaches 50, he should SELL!

Coach Tinkle has built a good basketball team and the program should continue to improve in the coming years. The Griz were beaten by a better team....Saturday. If they play again, maybe the Griz win..who knows. The future is bright for UM basketball.
I really hope you're right, Spanky, but I'm not so sure. Yes, the Griz got beaten (badly) Saturday night, but I'm not sure they were beaten by a better team; for sure, they were beaten by a team that played better -- and those are two different things all together. I don't know what the problem is with this team. I've seen them in person half a dozen times. On a couple occasions, they looked almost unstoppable. The others times, well, they looked pretty "stoppable," even if they won.

Cherry is a special player and it is a different team when he is at 100% but I doubt he will be for the rest of the year. If the Griz need him at 100% then this team is not as deep or as good as everyone thought.

The Griz can not win without Cherry being on top of his game. He is the straw that stirs the glass on defense. If his mobility (or lack of) does not allow him to shut-down the opposing point guard from penetrating and dishing-off, the entire Griz defense crumbles. Just sayin'.

You all make me laugh. We got our tails kicked. Yea and now what? Everyone on here is saying obviously how bad we are??? "it takes one recuiting class to turn it around"??? Turn around what? a 1st place team? a team that looks damn good 50% of the time and sucks on the road? we need experience thats how you win on the road. we have 1 senior, the best player maybe but...1. WE are not now nor will we be SDSU or George Mason a few years ago. Griz basketball is on the way up from where it was. I dont know why after every loss football or basketball we get more posters to come on and say we suck. These are KIDS 18-22 year old KIDS! This loss did not kill us, its not like we had a chance of getting a bid. the only chance UM has of a tourney any year is win the BSCT. and what are we in a good place to do? WIN THE BSCT. Hell if we get to the NCAAT and get a 15 seed. these kids are going to come out and play just as hard as if we were a 12 seed. Last week yall were saying we could match up well with a ton of teams and beat alot of talented teams....and now we dont? how about we support how hard those "horrible" players like stockton work out there and how hard they hustle and what they put into this game. Support the TEAM no matter if its a great game or a bad game....be proud to be a griz or a griz fan. Because those kids are.

soooo, honest criticism is not welcome? Some of what you say is true, much is arguable. No one forgets these are young kids....but so are the teams rolling them, now that the weaknesses of UM are obvious...no perimeter shooting, poor guard play with Cherry not 100%, unreliable forwards and little defense...I am sorry if you are upset but isn't that what this board is for? We can all sit and say whoopee, the Griz played tonight and that's that...but what fun would that be....By the way, I assume Tinks is saying much the same only a little more precise and animated to his players.....

Being we have struggled at shooting guard all year, maybe it is time for Tinkle put them through every shooting drill and competition possible this week. May the best man win. All I know is they need a lot of repetition. One would think, someone would have or soon will find a consistent shot again.

Don't you know that it is unacceptable to make any critical remarks about Grizzly athletics? That means you a neggie, or a bad fan. Athletic message boards are no place to discuss Xs and Os, only to laud your team.

Come on, leave the bad fan bull crap and sarcasm on the football forum.

its one thing to say they are stuggling and need work here and there. when you say the suck... they dont try, they are horrible. And attack certain players.....that my friend is BULL. Fact of the matter most the players you all discribe are prob the hardest working kids on the roster. when cherry is having a bad day you all baby him....awww he is hurt and just not 100%. you think any of these kids are 100% at the end of the year? your nuts. You exact fans are in other threads a week ago saying how much talent and how good they are playing. now the world if falling down? get a life. Dont hate the kids for doing everything they can. blame the coach or the program sure. I promise you players know this forum is here and i know players that read it. So maybe you all should thank the players for their hard work. Then again im sure you only go to the games when we are winning like the other 4K fans that fill that area once or twice a year. College sports are about passion, and pride for their school. Yet you seem to think it is the pros.

and by the way we have some of the best D in the BSC so how can we be horrible? we dont have 5 guys to knock down 5+3s a game no. but for the most part, this griz team is young....very young. with alot of inexperence.
