Griz Games Going Forward

Hey all. Some of you get technology and some of you don't. That is okay. I personally was fed up today because the Pluto stream stopped allowing us to view for twenty minutes in the second quarter.

So, here is what I've secretly offered since 2007, contact me [redacted]

[Unredacted] is fvckin' awesome

I emailed all local TV stations, UM athletic department, UM president and both state Senators about not getting local TV station to carry Cat and Griz games like they did in the past. As you can probably guess, I didn't get any responses. Maybe if everyone would email and complain it might get some action?

Did you carefully lace in one or two threats in your emails? That usually gets a response. :thumb:

Good luck! I for one wish we could go back to the times of all local productions, but the ROOT contract and the money for the conference is pretty ironclad. And it’s national exposure.

And to be honest, the ROOTSPORTS productions are done very well. There’s not much we can do when we’re on the road with a MVFC team since they’re contracted with ESPN. But I’m all for dumping the Pluto/Eleven Sports productions.

I am totally befuddled by what happened with the broadcast(s) from Cal Poly. I understand that the Pluto approach was total crap (my bro-in-law even called to say "WTF"). But we had Eleven Sports via a channel on DirecTV and it was just fine. Oh, the announcers were kinda comical at times, but the camera work, replays, etc. were all good. Where the Hell did it fall apart?

This is what I don't understand... It would make logical sense for Eleven Sports to provide the same exact video feed to Pluto as what was being televised on DirecTV, and yet that is obviously not what happened since those of watching online only got a wide angle view of one end of the field for over half of the second quarter. Someone definitely screwed up.

Much of the time the free online feeds are made by college students and the primary goal of these feeds are to cut segments out of them and show them on the in-stadium screen for replays, kiss cam, shots of the band, etc.

No way. I've seen way better vids from the student section than what was on Pluto.

Same here....if Root doesn't do a game then find someone else that can do it correctly. That Pluto showing was a disgrace and the conferences own watchbigsky did not even work. Montana schools are far and away the biggest audiences, most other schools cant even draw a decent crowd at home let alone viewers, so they need to partner together to push the clowns at the BSC into changing.

If Tester and Gianforte want to pick up some votes they should come out and voice the concern and stating if they are re-elected into office that's priority number one (yes I am kidding. ....sort of)

The AT&T trial works well to get the Root games. Was pretty happy with the service and quality. Pluto... As the old saying goes... garbage in, garbage out. EWU home games (not picked up by Root) are at least broadcast by SWX and shown on Pluto via a direct feed. NAU seems to have their own production studio or something because their home broadcasts are generally pretty solid too. So no real issues with the quality of production.

I'm going to guess the Cal Poly game was pretty much a couple (being generous there) of camcorders hooked up to a live stream that's piping audio of the radio broadcast? I think I remember that about one of their games I watched last year.

My issue with Pluto is the experience varies from platform to platform. On the PS4 it seems the feeds never work, and on the PC (web page) there's a lot of corruption/dropped bits in the feed. Yet on the same PC, the Win10 app generally works. But Watch Big Sky despite having the same feed works the best for me. I don't know... it's weird.
