Griz Fan Podcast w/Colter Nuanez - Brawl talk / season lookback / playoffs / all fan questions

Purely off the podcast, I have a random question regarding recruitment.

Are the coaches unwilling to change with the times, or is the staff (early in the recruitment process) looking for players who are faith-oriented individuals?
It does seems that a lot of our recruits are religious from their social media profiles. I would say there is a big difference in recruiting during Hauck 2.0 and Hauck 1.0 that is worth acknowledging when trying to figure out why we haven’t reached the same level of success.

That difference is that there is an off field element that is taken more into account than his first tenure after everything the university went through the decade after he left. I believe there are players that we could recruit from high school or the portal that would make our team better from a talent standpoint that could be perceived to have off field issues. I don’t believe we would go after a JD Quinn at this time.

You can keep hanging your hat on some irrelevant poll, but they are 5th in conference and 14th seed in the tournament.
I am not citing a poll. I am citing the device that the playoff committee uses. And you can site the come rank all you want, but the fact remains that the Griz are seeded in the playoffs. I assume the committee ignores conf rank, if they even knew it. Focusing on conf rank now is just plain dumb.

A chilling fact of Bobby 2.0 is where they have finished in the conference standings. 6th, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 1st, and 5th in his 6 years back at the helm. Couple that with a 2-4 record against the Cats. Bobby 1.0 is much different than the 2.0 version.
The worst thing about having a disappointing season is that I’m once again gonna have to come in and remind everyone about how where you place in the Big Sky doesn’t matter.

NAU finished ahead of us in conference only because they didn’t play MSU or UC Davis. They made the playoffs because they missed playing the 2 best teams.

Bobby gets bonus money for good grades/students so I’m sure that plays into recruiting. Take all those bonuses and add them into wins you might see a different approach

You don't think he got a bonus for going to the Natty last year? I'm 99% sure he did.

The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents. They use Massey too. This from committee chair Matt Larsen NDSU: “You're really getting down to, obviously, strength of schedule, but where did your wins and losses come from?” Larsen said. “That's probably where we landed with Montana, maybe a little bit lower because of some of their losses and not as many signature wins as maybe some of the other teams that they were up against.”

No one cares about Massey! They are 5th in the BSC….that is based on what was proven on the field = all that matters at the end of the day!
The playoff considers Massey. No one cares about conference play at this point. The committee looks at conference champions. No, conference rank is not based on what occurred on the field, in an uneven conference where all teams don't play each other.
