Officiating has been bad on both sides, and not the reason for either team winning, or losing. See UNC games last year.

Still whining about the refs, huh? Jeeez. Give it a rest already!

Whining is saying the refs caused a team the game. I just said they were bad on both sides!! Our officials suck most every year, compared to other conferences. If they would learn to swallow the whistle some, maybe the officiating in the NCAA tournament would not take Big Sky teams by surprise. If think these guys are good referees, fine, you are entitled to your opinion, just as everyone is. I just do not agree with you.

Good job GRIZ, and nice game EWU!!! You need more than 31 second half points to win most games.

Many times in tournaments, the refs decide before the game to call it close, to avoid it getting too physical, which can lead to problems, flagrant fouls, fights, etc. It is called "control". I didn't see this game, but I think that this is what the officials decided to do tonight.

Sucks to be EWU.

Sucks to be Growler1. Dude's gotta go home every night and swallow a couple dicks.

Wait. Correction. It doesn't suck to be Growler1; he enjoys it. :thumb:

Sour grapes

poor winners arent any better than poor losers.

#1 v #2 to go dancing. Should be epic.

There were some bad calls against both teams throughout the game, but that's the way it goes. I just though it was strange that 4 straight calls went against EWU in the last 2 minutes.

Congrats, and good luck against Weber.

When you play agressively as EWU did tonight, those things happen...

True.

Final score not indicative of the game. The Griz played poorly (to be charitable) and EWU played well (who IS this guy Colimon?). Talent and some final gutting it out got the win. Hope they have that crap out of their system.
Allowing Coliman to score 27 points is simply ominous for the Griz who have to stop Lillard tomorrow night. After tonight, that is a going to be a tall order...so much on the line.....

Lillard will get his points. I'm more concerned about preventing one or two other Weber players from breaking out. If we make them one-dimensional, we will win.

Well, that would be great..even 10 points would be good, but, as we all know, that will not happen...

wanna bet on that one?

he's your 3rd leading scorer and the only guy getting assists. he's also not getting torched by the guy he's guarding.

Buddy, I gotta say I enjoyed your banter there in the second half. Good stuff. I'll say it again, leave it to a cat fan to be spot on about Selvig. (Though, to be fair, Ederaine ate Selvig's lunch all night. He was way too quick for Derek.)

EWU has some very good athletes. We just needed to survive, and now we host the championship in front of a hopefully packed house. What's not to like?

Talented offensive players for EWU, with success going 1-on-1, or 2-on-2 plays.

STARTERS - - - -FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OFF REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
Cliff Colimon, G - - 10-20 2-7 5-5 0 4 2 1 0 3 1 27
Cliff Ederaine, F - - 8-11 0-2 0-0 1 4 2 0 2 5 4 16
Laron Griffin, F - - - 5-10 0-0 5-7 4 14 0 2 3 1 4 15

The rest of the team scores 8 points. Colimon gets 27, Ederaine gets 16, Griffin gets 15.

was just bored and having some fun.

it is so odd that while your TEAM played pretty poorly for about 38 minutes....people fixate on what selvig does and doesn't do. i'd never say that he's a top player in this league. and he obviously had a very difficult task tonight. but people don't even attempt to try and be objective about this kid. he played every bit as good as any other griz on the floor. and ewu was very smart putting their athletic bigs around the perimeter opening up the lane.

very entertaining game though. you guys played as bad as i've seen in a while and won by 10. tomorrow should be a hell of a game.

uh, hater.....

Montana has more balanced scoring, and scoring runs.

STARTERS - - - -- - - FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OFF REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
Mathias Ward, F - - - - 3-10 1-1 12-12 4 7 1 0 1 1 3 19
Kareem Jamar, G-F - - - 6-15 0-5 6-8 2 13 0 2 1 4 1 18
Will Cherry, G - - - - - - 7-13 0-2 2-3 2 3 2 3 1 2 2 16
Derek Selvig, F - - - - - 4-8 1-2 3-4 0 1 3 1 2 1 3 12
Art Steward, F - - - - - - 1-3 0-0 4-5 2 5 2 1 1 1 3 6
The Griz bench gets 3 from Stockton, and the rest from the 5 starters.

EWU scores point number 60 at 3:26 mark, and scores only 6 points the rest of
the game (layup with 13 seconds left and another layup with 1 second left).

Don't know why I was so nervous. This team knows how to pull it together when behind like no other Griz team I can remember. Way to GO GRIZ! In Seattle, we have a little saying for that...REFUSE TO LOSE! LOL

i know one thing....tinkle has completely proved me wrong about his coaching ability. when he got the job i thought he was in over his head. he might be the best recruiter i have seen in this league in the last 20+ years. if HE thinks selvig just may be good enough to get the many minutes he gets.....who am i to argue?

he was your 4th leading scorer, and had the most blocks and assists. if people are so mad that he doesn't rebound like they think he should, or that he shoots threes......they should be FURIOUS that he actually leads your team in assists.....with 3.

selvig was probably the most consistent player you had tonight.

Give all the credit to EWU and their coach. They came in with a great game plan and Colimon and Ederaine had their way early and often. The plays they ran worked for most of the game. I'm just glad the Griz came alive at the end and put the hammer down! It's a bit weird, but I think the Griz match up better with Weber than the Eagles. I think we are going to see a lot of Tresnak tomorrow, though he isn't as quick as Ederaine. Go Griz! Protect your home court tomorrow! All those who get to go, make some noise!

I've said a few times that the difference between this years team and teams from the last few years is that when a team delivers a knock-out blow, they can get up off the deck and deliver their own knock-out blow. The griz did just that to close the deal tonight.

Wow, I was just looking at EWU's roster, Johnson, Griffin, Ederaine, and Colimon are all gone after this year. That's a good chunk of your scoring tonight. At least you have Chiverton back and hopefully healthy.
