GRIZ/EWU game thread

Welp, looks like a .500 team we have so far. Hope they get their mojo at some point. The only thing I can pinpoint so far is Tinkle can't figure out a rotation to go with. In our most recent seasons, he had a starting five that he rarely deviated from with the exception of a select few reserves. Right now it's just a circus every night. Ahhh, he will figure it out.

I only saw the last 3 min but the griz seemed totally uninterested and bored in the way they played. Kareem especially. With the challenges of no post play, no rebounding, and no decent screen sets the griz have their work cut out for them in the falling sky conference to come in 3rd. I don't know what tinks has in mind to generate a sense of urgency and pride but they are sure leaking oil.

So I was just checking ESPN stats, and it states that Martin and Hutch combined for 2 rebounds. :thumb: Yes I am beating a dead horse here, but only because Tinkle is.

Kemp had 5.......3 offensive. Sure he fouls, but he plays hard. At least he can move his feet, rebound, and create a shot. Kemp is more physical than the 2 above combined.

But hey, we won the rebounding battle and lost. fu#K.

Even if, by a long shot, we do right the ship we will get the piss beat out of us in the NCAA worse than last year.

I honestly think Tinks is close to a lineup. He just has to commit to one. Why the eff does he screw with who starts at guard, but wont set aside his loyalty to Hutch and Martin and give Kemp a shot?

Sh#t, maybe make Weisner come off the bench and start: Jamar, Gregory, Deshields, Martin, Kemp? That gives us length and a guy that can rebound. We don't need 4 3 ball shooters. At this point what is there to lose?

Got spoiled the last two years

Conference still in early phase but another loss creates an some sense of urgency for coaching staff and team...at least I would think

Our chemistry is just not there.....

Question for you all:

When Ward and Cherry went down at pretty much the same time, the team actually rallied and played really well.............with what we literally have right now........minus Spencer Coleman. Was Coleman that big of a difference maker?

To say the least Tinks has a MAJOR challenge on his hands right now. But...I believe he is up to it---we just have a LOT of wood to chop as they say.

Yeah, you are right. 35-28. That's what I get for going off of ESPN.

There's a guy standing by the EWU huddle who looks like he's 7 foot 6 or so. Anyone know who that is?

That would be Fredrick Jorg. 7' 1" from Germany. He played a little last year in his freshman year. He is redshirting this year. Mostly a project. Very stiff hands and not real fleet of foot. We'll see if the coaching staff can do anything with him. Just might end up being a junk getter and a space taker upper guy. :D Pretty good crowd tonight (there always is when UM is in town) A lot of folks came up to see GFellar(spelling?). He's from Colfax about an hour south of Spokane. EWU needed this game. Especially after the ISU game. That was embarrassing. Big Sky season is still early and I would expect UM to turn it around. Kelly did a great job on Lamar tonight. UM and EWU should finish in the top 5 I think. Anyway it was a fun game to watch and a well deserved win for my Eags. Hope the return trip is the same. Go Eags!! :thumb:

...everyone try to remember...
...that it'z tough on the road...
...in the big sky conference...

... 8-) ...

Freddy Owens is the difference.

I would be more concerned if I was Randy Rahe. Weber State has far and away the best talent in the league and got kicked by Northern Colorado. Montana's biggest issue imo is lack of leadership. Jamar looks like he is sleep walking at the start of games. They also dribble the ball too damn much. What are they going to try next, the Globetrotter circle? :o

I agree with the dribbling notion. The times where they actually knocked that off and passed it around quickly they found open shooters. I recall a great group of passes last night that resulted in a wide open Gregory three. However, it is a very good thing I am not the coach!

Excellent point. There is definitely a difference. It seems like if this team gets in a funk, they have a hard time getting over it. That can be fixed though. I just though it would have happened with the non conference.

I really don't see Portland State getting swept at home. Pivotal game is next Thursday. If the Griz don't beat UND at home Thursday they are likely looking at a 6 game losing streak until they get to Southern Utah. The end of the schedule is more favorable to the Griz, but it is critical they not to get swept at home next week if they want any chance to make the BSC tournament.

I would say "let's be patient for next year and not get our hopes up for 2014," but it looks like anybody could win this thing this season, so why not us?

The globetrotter circle is the best play they run. Nobody can set a pick worth a lick. I agree there offense reminds one of school yard basketball. Dribble around until someone shoots it.
