B was a beast today. ewoo had no answer for him. I noticed, too, that the idiot students chanting "cut from UDub" shut up pretty damn fast!!! You didn't hear much of that after about 5 minutes in.

Exactly. I don't know how many listened to the radio feed (I did because that's all I had), but the microphones picked up a lot of classy phrases from the EWU faithful.
You missed seeing the Flight Club t-shirts if you could only listen on radio.

Breunig played great! But what really won this game, and that will be huge in the tourney, was the play of Fab, Gfeller & Mario. They stepped up big time!! We can normally get pretty good production from Breunig & Gregory but to win the big games several others need to play big & they did that!

It's clear those guys really are playing for each other & only care about winning over any other personal goals.

I'm not making any predictions but this is a good team that's been through a lot. It can actually get better & this coaching staff has done an awesome job!

Went from thinking there was no hope for hosting after losing @Idaho to all of a sudden being right back in the hunt if we take care of the Cats.
I bought a bottle of Tullamore Dew, thinking there would be a "down" team after the loss to Idaho. I can't say that I "wasted" it, but I am glad for the outcome of the game.

That's a bummer. It would have been nice to see Monster Energy Drink Court at Heisenberg Arena on TV for once.

How big is it when your point guard has 7 defensive rebounds. Mario Dunn had one great performance on the boards.

DeCuire said that the coaches tabbed Fabijan Kryslovic as "Player of the Game" for his outstanding defensive game against Venky Jois, who was held to a total of four points.

Jois got 10 and 11 boards for a double double

He also had 5 assists, 5 blocks and 2 steals

And 5 turnovers. Krslovic did a great job keeping him from being much of an impact scoring inside. Very nice to have a true freshman that's able to go out there and take care of business against one of the best post players in the Big Sky.
What I think is even more important for Griz bball is that when Gregory was on the bench wit 4 fouls, NEXT YEAR'S team not only took the lead but held EWU from their usual game. Next year's team might already be this year's Big Sky Champs! Great show.

Yeah, come to think of it, Dunn wasn't flashy, but he was really efficient. See he had 11 pts, 7 rebs and 6 assts. Not only that, but 2 blks.

I was just pointing out grizzlyjournal's mistake about 4 pts for Jois......don't know where he got that from???

Probably was looking at the first half stats. Jois only had 4 points in the first half (and 3 turnovers). Not sure on his rebounds or assists in the first half though.

but for blowing off four games they should have won, this is a 21-win team, folks, and that's a helluva surprise to me.

tip o the cap to two coaches: tinks for recruiting these players, decuire for coachin' 'em up.

Great game, Griz!!! Cheney has a lot of things, a votech college, methed up students and fans, a whiney head football coach, an embarrassing football stadium, etc... What they don't have is a bad play-by-play man. Which is incredibly surprising.

Great game by both teams! I'm happy I started drinking at10;30 this morning. Go Griz!!

Catastrophic day to be an EWU fan. Both basketball teams essentially lose the regular season title on the same day (although the men may have a slim mathematical chance). To add insult to injury, the lose to their perceived, hated rivals. I feel so sorry for them that I'm on my 4th beer and can't wipe that smile off my face!

I don't know about you but I could do just fine without the "RING IT" and "CAUTION, FLAMMABLE" bs.....

Yeah, he actually does a nice job. But he definitely goes to the "ring it up" well far too often.

To Sacstatesman: Yes, I was referring to Venky Jois' first half stats. My mistake, and apologies. However, that does not lessen the fact that Travis DeCuire named Fabijan Krslovic his "player of the game" recognition for the way he defended Jois.

Because I harped on it so much the other day - great job of free-throw shooting! At one point it was 12-12 from the line for the Griz...guess what? 1 point victory...and ewu at one point was shooting free-throws at 12 of 19. Missing free-throws (not shooting a great percentage) is like death by paper-cuts in college bball. Great game, Griz!!

"CHENEY, Wash. -- This win, Jordan Gregory said, was for all the teams that wear Montana on the front of their uniforms.

The Eastern Washington athletic department bragged on social media this week that the Eagles were 8-0 against teams from Montana in football and men's and women's basketball this season. Make that 8-2.

The Griz completed a men's and women's sweep Saturday with an exciting and well-played 77-76 win over the Eagles in front of 4,621 boisterous fans at Reese Court."

"Our coaching staff said the only way to nullify the pain we felt on Thursday was to come here and get a win," Gregory said. "There’s been a lot of talk from over here in Washington about how they’ve been beating the state of Montana. It felt good to go out and get a win not only for us, but for our state."
That kid's from Montana now and forever.
