Griz/Eags In Game Thread

Yes, Rundles seemed to be in the crosshairs of the refs. I thought there were 3 bad calls on fouls, altho I may not have seen all of the play on the foul on the 3-pt. shot. The foul when he was fronting a guy in the key was completely wrong, and called after he had already knocked the ball away. The call under the south end basketball should have been on the EWU guy who was riding and holding him.

Hasquett had a period when he must have been pissed at the little white guard who was guarding (and holding and bumping) him, and thus JH pushed the defender fairly blatantly several times (without getting called). I should have mentioned previously that JH's two early 3's were almost key moments in the game, as they got the Griz off to a nice start. He's a terrific player.

I attended the game. It was a nice win against a very, very mediocre team.

I always miss the good games. Perhaps Tinkle's the best coach ever and I'm just warped because I only see them turn the ball over and put up ill advised shots.

It is a lot easier to find them (positives) if you actually look for them. At least admit your sole purpose is simply to rag on Tinkle.

Hey robo, how bout this, you miss the rest of the games and i go to the rest of the games. Last night was the second game i have been able to go to this year, the first being colo st. I can honestly say i have not SEEN a bad griz game this year and since you seem to make the bad ones I think this is a fair roster adjustment us fans should make

Can someone tell me why Strait hasn't had this type of performance until the last few games (I know we are 1-2, but two losses of 2 points)? He is a stud if you let him play the inside game. This is the type of game I like to see.

:shocked: Strait was averaging 8 shots per game going into this game and shooting 61 percent. Strait only got 8 shots in this game. He is now shooting 64 percent. :shocked:

Strait has never been a problem. Gets a few rebounds in addition to putting up all those shots.

I do not want to rag on Tinks, I just don't think he's the best coach for the job. In fact he's never had any success as a head coach. I would rather see a stud coach at a lower conference or division get a shot instead of promoting an assistant without any head coaching experience.

I do not want to rag on Tinks, I just don't think he's the best coach for the job. In fact he's never had any success as a head coach. I would rather see a stud coach at a lower conference or division get a shot instead of promoting an assistant without any head coaching experience.

For someone who claims "I do not want to rag on Tinks", you seem to do it every post you make. So, I think you actually do like ragging on him.

Oh my gosh, what a great STUDENT turn-out for this conference game!!! It was a tremendous atmosphere tonight at Dahlberg Arena!! How could EWU possibly win with that type of crowd in Missoula???? They were on their feet all night long cheering on the Griz!!! Big Sky Conference hoops at it's best. :laugh:

The crowd was fair at best. The student sections were mostly filled but it does not seem, at this point, that they would fill an entire lower arena side if it was opened up to them.

Problem is getting the upperclassmen to show up. If the same number of sophomores, juniors and seniors showed up as freshman, the place would be packed.

I've said it a few times before and I don't feel bad harping on it. the thing that would do the most good for atmosphere, environment and intimidation is getting the lazy-ass football players to go to games. It is a joke how few go anymore. The key to getting more student is getting the football players to show up first-the lemmings will follow, I guarantee.

Yeah, the back to back home losses at the hands of fullerton and portland were bad. Both very very tough losses.

Now, like I said, that may not have been the case back in the day, maybe the footballers showed up perfectly strait, and yelled their heads off. But I think today most have egos that don't want to be THAT guy (and I'm not slammin this, I'm just sayin it's a certain attitude that even I have when I'm not a couple beers into it).
Now, if they did show up, under the influence and were rowdy, it wouldn't take but 10 minutes of somebody seeing that and it being posted right here on this board. Then the kid(s) have a reputation as a bad influence.

ok backer, since you usually make pretty astute and impartial posts I will say something nice about tinks. I was on rivals.com looking at top 150 recruits and I was happy to see that Montana showed up on the #58 player in the country's list of possible schools, even if he did commit to Wisconsin.

also was checking out Stockton and Ward. 2 star recruits with only big sky schools were looking at them, anyone know how good they will be at the D-1 level?

Well I DO know what it was like in the day. And the first 2 rows straight across the East side were predominately football players (and damn-near the entire team would be there), sprinked in with a few rowdy die-hards like myself. Brad Lebo would have to be restrained by the refs to back-off an opponant trying inbound the ball. He would be, literally, screaming in the poor kids ear 6 inches away from him. You can't tell me having your back to the football team screaming at you isn't more intimidated than Jeff Ament and the other lame-ohs in their cushy spacious seats court-side now. They are so polite, it's like they're attending a grade-school play. It was a completely different atmosphere and it is no coincidence the atmosphere has sucked ever since the football team has quit going to games.
