GRIZ/Cats threads

It seems like that hasn't happened in a long time. 2 Rebounds for our big guy? It sure wasn't because the cats made a high percentage.

Cats have more athleticism, Griz have better shooters (did not see it tonight however) and better defense. Griz were very lethargic (not unusual) and could not buy a bucket. Our defense was not good tonight either for the most part (several back door buckets) and there was no transition game, hence the score. If the Griz get Cherry and Johnson in the game and get an uptempo game we easily win by 20 in Missoula. I am horribly disappointed in this conference season thus far. Griz should only have two losses in conference, and one should not be tonight. There better be a sellout in MIssoula next month! Get the gray haired ladies off the lower level and get some raucous students in the Adams Center and light that place on fire! UM has by far the best student section in the BSC and it does not show in Basketball. They need to put the bongs away for at least one night and cheer on the Griz. I am so sick and tired of this BS. Only the Athletic Department and Students are to blame. Enough of a rant?
 
Great W for MSU. I have questioned in the past and still am, why do we insist on being such a 1/2 court team? Our personnel is more suited for a faster paced game, yet every game we see the same ineffective offense and struggles.

Damnit, just try switching it up now and then. Take advantage of our shot blockers in Qvale and Selvig by trapping or having our guards and forward apply more pressure! Seriously, when a team struggles offensively, strategy is to create offense through defense. This really upsets me to see other teams be the aggressors with us. At the very least unchain Cherry every game defensively.

Also we have the depth to dictate a faster paced game. Wayne, please have some confidence in your personnel not named Anthony Johnson. Take the reigns off now and then. Good things can and will happen!!!
 
Why the heck did we keep switching back to man defense?? The Griz came out flat, passive and unprepared to play. :( Another down the stretch collapse. :( I will be surprised if we do any better than 8-8 in league.
 
Griz missed the front end of two 1 and 1's towards the end of game, when down only 4. Griz didn't defend against several good Cat drives in the last minute or two. Don't think Staudacher scored. Griz shot very poorly the first half, particular the first 15 minutes, except for McGillis. Johnson didn't seem to have it tonight. I wonder if he was sick.Griz got outhustled on the boards at times. The Cats deserved to win, but they didn't look very strong to me.
 
Is it me, or have others lost any hope for us to contend this year? Our offense and insistence to play 1/2 court ball really has me doubting this team this year. That says a lot. Normally, I am much more positive concerning the GRIZ.

This team just has no offensive flow any longer.
 
I'm still hopeful. The team needs to play better in the second half of the conference season, and get on a roll going into the tourney. They have the talent to do that.
 
PR, I agree with you on the talent part. Does our offense not concern or worry you? With our talent and depth, why are we not a more aggressive, pressure, and faster paced team? I seriously see no reason to not try to be faster paced. Does Tinkle not have the confidence in this team to try it or at least change it up now and then like LK did?

You are much closer to the program than most us here, give us some insight. Normally, I understand Tinkle's strategy and even like it. But this year, things just are not right with the 1/2 court strategy. Something has to be done to find an offense that can consistently be relied on.
