Griz Cat

Gad, those Bobcats sure have ugly uniforms!

Yeah, those are pretty bad. And I agree it's difficult to tell who the team wearing then actually is. That's some pretty poor marketing.

May I have a follow-up question? Thank you.

Is EWU due for a major let-down after spanking the Cats so horrendously?

AWF wrote, "Okay, how do the Cats lose to EWU by 29...on their own court?"

Come on, AWF, you know the answer to that, it is that well known phenomenon called a "Griz Hangover."

The cats spent all their vim Monday night trying to do what they can never seem to do later in a BB season. The msu fading bobcats tsk tsk 8-)

Go Griz!
Maul'em!

The answer to that is easy:

It's February.

The three previous years the Cats were 7-22 after February 1st in D1 games. Every year they seem to completely fall apart right at the end of January or very beginning of February. I think the few fans that still follow the Cat's BB team kind of expect it now...

Over at Bobcat Nation, a truckload of Prozac would not do any good. I've never seen so much negativity over a team, a program, a facility, a coach, and an athletic director. I would hate to be a kid on that team; nobody is looking out for them.

Yes, after the Griz beat the Cats late in January or early in February, the Cats fall apart for the rest of the season. Really really bad Griz hangover.

Much like our own football forum 2012-2013. We covered staff, some players, AD and the president of the University.

Wadid Cruzado is the only missing criticism over at MSU.

Under our President, thanks to his disastrous "foray" into "Athletics," the Academic Mission is the side that is seriously being punished: $3 million in cuts last year, $6 million in cuts this year, $9 million next year.

Notice that it is getting worse instead of better.

For the graduating high school girls, all they hear about is "rape nation." For the guys, its the fact that UM is now a "hostile environment" for young males thanks to the DOJ agreement. UM's last "recruiting program," at whatever cost, recruited three students. And I think those numbers are grossly inflated.

And this isn't "recession" related. UM enrollment continued to break records during the actual recession, which officially ended in June, 2009. Enrollment did not begin to decline until Fall Semester 2011, after Engstrom had thoroughly botched everything he touched and refused to offer a defense of the University of Montana.

Now, it's a downhill spiral, a CEO's worst nightmare: every front page article is now about "cuts" and "declining enrollment." That's what parents are reading. That's what prospective students are reading. That UM is now clearly associated in the public eye with academic panic and budgetary failure, in addition to "rape nation" and "hostile environment."

He can recruit until he's blue. He can't undo what he's done to this University.

What's the good news?

What is both amazing and ironic is that Athletics is the true bright spot at UM.

The recent Missoulian article indicates that UM continue to staff up even after enrollment was declining. Huh? Was UM's leadership asleep?

It's a bureaucracy. Logic doesn't enter into decisions.
