GRIZ/cat mens thread

Keys to the second half of conference.

1. Q - keep doing wut ur doing, if he adds some touch to his post shots we could go to the sweet 16
2. Cherry - keep doing wut ur doing, try to draw more fouls if you're going to slash inside this often though
3. Selvig - quit playing like you're embarrassed to be as gifted as you are, it seems like you're holding back because you don't want to be a show off. Show that shit off.
4. Steward - The newest BSD of the BSC, do nothing differently
5. Tinks - Why, God, why is Wood still getting minutes over Aughtry? Make Wood go away forever please.
6. Jamar - Come back and dominate teh kitties this weekend. We need your three shooting to host the tourney.
7. Stockton - Take a freaking shot for once! Take ten. Opposing teams know you never shoot so you're almost always wide open. Even if they don't go in, it will scare the hell out of opposing teams to the point where they won't be able to double Selvig and Qvale.
8. I haven't been this afraid of Woods since the Blair Witch Project. We go from great to marginal when he gets on the floor, all he does is take up space. Tinks needs to just suck it up and admit he made a mistake by bringing him in.

+ 1 on Selvig. He needs to start going "Adam Morrison" on people. He has it in him. He needs to become a cocky scoring POS with a mustache.

I think Selvig deserves a lot of credit for playing a real gutsy game tonight. He took a beating including a couple of "below the belt" shots according to Tinks during the post-game interview. He was obviously hurting but really hung in there and played hard and effectively the entire game.

Selvig is badass. He just needs to take more shots and play with more confidence.

This is the best griz team in 10 years. Easy
8-) :coffee:

Has to be close, although the 2006 team which blasted Nevada in the NCAA's (and beat a ranked Stanford team on the road) was mighty good as well.

Another solid win by the Griz tonight. You have to love a game that wasn't in jeopardy from the opening tip. Let's get it done on the road next week!

Uggh, just got back. Great game. I think those that were saying the crowd wasn't into it enough might consider that the game was a blowout starting about 2 to 3 minutes into the game. It just wasn't conducive to much enthusiasm. I'm surprised no one mentioned Cherry's SICK no-look pass to Art in the lane in the first half. As good or better than BQ's put back dunk.

Speaking of Art. He doesn't get as much attention as he deserves. The guy is loooooooong and extrememly atheltic. Plays really good D and is killer attacking the basket. When teams are keying on Cherry and Qvale he can absolutely dominate. He has shown flashes of that the last 4-5 games or so. Very Scotty Pippen-Like. Can't say enough good things about his game, he is really coming into his own out there.

People can bag on Wood all they want but I don't think it's completely warranted. He's a smart player, hustles on every play, defends very well, and can attack and finish at the basket. Seems most bag on him for not being able to hit the 3 with any consistency and that's it. That is a problem and I think it is just his confidence. I think he just thinks about it too much. You can see it in him on the court. If and when he can put that behind him I think people will change their tune very fast. At least he hit is FT's tonight.

They talked about it in pregame and the Griz did another good job defending peopoli (SP?). They didn't let him get many good looks all game. I think coming into the game he was something like 4 for 24 from 3-point range career against the Griz. Did great again today.

Griz wanted this more and it showed. Cherry does need to learn to back off and set the offense a little better. He had that run of 3 or so trips down court where he forced it and should have passed off or pulled it out to reset. He will ge tthat down, though, and you can't blame him for wanting to step on their throat. He has the killer instinct.

BTW, when did the Cat's start recruiting Junior High players? That #3 was TINY!

Great game, but I hate these quick turn arounds against he same team after delivering a beat down. Leads to complacency and opposing team can game plan. Will be a much tougher game in Bozeman.

great game by the Griz. Major props go to Tinkle for game plan and getting the team ready. Maybe his best coaching performance ever. Big crowd, not loud. Prob partly because the pregame tailgate was a disaster, partly because most of the crowd doesn't watch basketball, partly because the Womens game. Oh Well, great college bb game nonetheless.

"disaster" is a touch dramatic. Props to the University for breaking out of thier mold and trying something different (like serving beer, GREAT IDEA).I actually thought the pregame tailgate worked well. I have a hard time complaining when there are $1 beers/2 dogs for a buck. Thats cheap by my book. Granted they could have had a better plan with the intersecting line's for the hot dogs and beer, but I think it worked out fine, and it got the regulars that do attend the games out of thier normal routine. Maybe its all the old people that were bitching that the line didnt move fast enough. It had a great turnout.

I hope the profits go where they are suppose to go.

Maybe its all the old people that sit in the lower levels (where the students should be) that sit on thier hands the whole game is the larger problem regarding fan intensity. The student section established themselves last night. O'Day actually told the student body to stop chanting "FTC". In addition, O'Day told the student section to stop chanting "Oompa-Loompa", and "Santa's helper" when Singleton was shooting free throws (He made both, damn). I guess I can understand him squashing the FTC (which I love saying FTC) chants to a small degree, however to tell a few of the football players to stop chanting "oompa loompa", and "santas helper" is micromanaging at its finest, and he should not worry about the ethics about home court advantage. It was good to see a rowdy/crude student section. What would O'day have done if we were playing Idaho the the student body started rolling potatos on the floor? Those were the days.

Oh yes, Singleton grabbed his junk after the Oompa loompa/santas helper chants. Classy.

Good to hear the students were into the game. Come on guys, let the students have fun. I admit I hate the FTC or FTG, but have no problem with anything that does not include cursing, offending family, or culture. To get a better home court advanatage, we have to concede some to young adults/students.

agreed, students and specifically football players need to be able to be there and have fun, and be a bit rowdy...Nothing wrong with calling the little fella Oompa Loompa. I wish dahlberg was known as a place that opposing players were going to get blasted. i can see banning the ftc, just makes you look like a turdy little cat fan. Let em harass the other team in a non-cussing way. That would get the rest of the crowd fired up, which i thought was a bit lame last night. Earlier poster could be right, game was over in the first five minutes and maybe that had something to do with it. Althought the cats did get within seven and the crowd didn't really react.

if montana hosts the tourny, and the griz make it to the final game, do you think they will let the students stand on the sideline?? there's a lot of if's in there i know but IF it does happen I seriously think that should be the way to go

I thinks its possible and a great Idea. Hopefully someone in the AD dept has the stones to tell the lowerlevel old people they will have to sit across or higher. They have done it before so its possible.
