Griz - Cat Game Thread

Keep smoking what your smoking, because that my friend is some good stuff

ha, a cat fan fighting with a whatever your mascot is on the griz board. bet they love that. my point is you've been running your mouth for weeks now. it's clear you don't follow big sky hoops too closely or you'd understand that you guys are far from a lock to win it all. and yes, top to bottom the griz are better than weber. that's why they crushed you a couple weeks ago. listen, i'm not saying that the cats are the best team or anything. i'm realistic. they got a huge win yesterday in missoula. something your amazing weber team couldn't do. i just know come tourney time i'd much rather play weber than the griz or unc. but, like i said...great work on only losing 2 conference games. that is quite a feat. but a new season is starting.

Lillard, I know you can talk basketball. A few weeks back you ran some smack and then showed you can actually talk basketball without the smack talk. Is the smacktalk really necessary? At this point no team has done anything yet, other than complete the regular season.

For BSC basketball, the only thing that matters is winning the conference tourney. It is a 2nd season for 6 teams, all with a chance to win the conference tourney. Not one of them, including Weber State, have yet to do that. There is not reason for anyone to be bragging or talking trash at this stage.

You know the ironic thing is, since Rahe's time at Weber State, I have always wished them well, except against the GRIZ. Why? I like them as a team and the manner they go about taking care of business. They are a classy and well coached program under Rahe. I just wish you would take the same attitude as the team does.

It is amazing how in every fanbase there are a few fans that ruin the fun and enjoyment for others (GRIZ fans included). Based on Weber State's team, other than the GRIZ, this is the team I want to represent the BSC in the NCAA's. Over the last few weeks, your trash talking really wants me to pull for anyone but Weber State, especially the Cats or UNC.

Please do not make Weber State fans and their program become despised because of trashtalk. I can only speak for myself, but a few years back I loved rooting for Gonzaga. I still root for them, but a few of their fans really have made it tough for me to do so now. It is to the point where I just do not read a few certain posters posts now, at least during basketball season. That is a shame because some the trashtalkers are also knowledgeable fans that bring worthwhile insights to topics when they are not talking trash.

I really want to root for whomever wins the BSC tourney in the NCAA tourney. Please do not take that away from some of us because of trash talk. GO GRIZ, and GO BIG SKY!

that is a great post. i have been thinking the same thing, you know the guy is coming across as a complete tool when he has a cat fan talking up the griz! but it's a joke. there are some good weber fans both here and on bobcatnation. but all this lilliard guy has done is run his mouth when the really haven't accomplished anything. after last years tourney you'd think he'd be a little smarter and realize that home court doesn't secure a trip to the dance. you still have to win.

Great post. I came on here to give you guys a little taste of what it's like on Webers fan board during football season when the Griz come over and spew their venom. Probably different posters than Griz bball posters. I found myself defending the Griz to the hilt when that Gonzaga wankor was on here. I will NEVER pull for Gonzaga again after seeing a few of them over here. They are delusional as to what is their reality... With the exception of (LAGriz ) , ilovethecats (who is a delusional certified nutjob MSU fan I guess) and a few other wankors over here, pretty good threads and posters.

Weber State HOST Win Tournament
1995 ... WSU Wildcats
1999 ... WSU Wildcats
2003 ... WSU Wildcats
2007 ... WSU Wildcats
2009 ... PSU Vikings
2010 ... ???

Pretty good record as far as the tourney goes, but last year was a great example as to why the games are played.
I was expecting NAU to make it down to the semis, not anymore I think UM will take care of them, and we will meet in the Semis. I think NAU would have beaten MSU. I think PSU will take care of MSU, and make it down to Ogden even without Phil Nelson. I was looking forward to the UM/UNC game in the semis, but it was not to be. Should be a fun tournament. I for one am looking forward to it. :thumb:

Lillard, the Gonzaga wanker is back. As a Bobcat fan my entire life, let me tell you that Big Sky Conference basketball is one of the worst and most boring forms of basketball I have ever seen in my entire life. I was at the game last night, and I was not impressed with either team. I would argue that outside of Weber, the conference most closly resembles the Pac-10. No team can regularly beat the other. The Griz, after looking simply amazing for the past few weeks, looked god awful last night. Weber will be a one and done team in the NCAA tourney if they don't lay a dud during the Big Sky Tourney first. Get some real talent, so real coaches, and some real facilities before you critique Gonzaga.

Perhaps LillardMVP should pay more attention to his own team winning its own games, than trying to put up (weak) smack on other team's message boards. Thanks to the Cat poster for trying to put Lillard in his place.

ya, i guess i'm just "delusional" because i think the season is far from over. i think there are 4 teams with a legitimate shot at winning the big sky. and i think it's lame to start running your mouth this early when recent history has shown that just becuase you host the tourney, you are not a lock to win it. i guess i don't know how i'm being delusional but i'm sure the weeb fan will enlighten me. :o

I think there are 5 teams able to win the tourney, given how PSU has been playing lately. While I wish UM had won last night for all kinds of reasons, not having to play PSU when they are playing better is one slight benefit of the loss.

The elite teams in the country don't lose to LMU, and San Francisco. The elite teams in the country have arenas that hold more than 6,000, half of what the DEC holds in Ogden. Gonzaga is not elite by any stretch, McCarthey Athletic Center wouldn't even be there if it wasn't for the funding from the 2 McCarthey brothers from Utah.

ya it seems as though several people share these thoughts. i just don't quite understand why. they have lost 5 of their last 7 games. they have won two straight, over bottom feeder idaho state, and over a weber team today that was playing for nothing. i understand that in this league any team can win pretty much every game, but i just don't know why people are saying that psu is playing so well right now. personally, i am very happy to be playing them at home. hopefully the cats take care of business.

Maybe PSU hasn't been playing that well, but I too have heard people saying they were. Their recent losses have all been fairly close. In reverse order: at UNC (3), at NAU (1), MSU (8), UM (5), Seattle (3).

Portland St. has as much talent as any one in the conference even with Nelson out. Waters, & Melvin Jones are great guards, and Jamie Jones is very tough inside and so is Julius Thomas. They would not be in this position if Bone was still their HC. Their failures this season, and inability to gel as a team are directly related to their Head coach Geving, he's terrible IMO. Montana State is going to have their hands full in the first round for sure. UM probably did themselves a big favor last night. Utah State fans as a potential 1 seed are dreading drawing Boise St., and probably will in the first round of the WAC, and even though they are a possible 8 seed they are starting to gel as a team, and have the weapons, and that is how I view Portland State right now. PSU didn't play anything like an 11-17 team today.

This is a profoundly selective argument. Using capacity as an indicator of program strength suggests that you know little about other traditionally successful college programs. Duke, for example, holds less than your vaunted DEC. Villanova, for example, holds 6,500 people, just more than half of what your exceptional DEC holds.

You are right, elite teams don't lose to LMU and San Fracisco. Elite programs regularly dominate their conference and regularly make the NCAA tournament. Elite programs may have down years (see North Carolina, 2009-2010) but they usually rebound. Gonzaga, like North Carolina, lost players to the NBA draft and a total of four starters to graduation. Our lineup this year is young, yet we have still found a way to win 25 games. Once every few years, yes, Gonzaga will lose a conference game or two.

Gonzaga has a vast national fan base with an increasing endowment to support it. The facilities are elite. Gonzaga has a private jet to play in away games. Weber State has nothing to compare with Gonzaga. It isn't even close. Sorry, but you can't win on this one. I enjoy watching the Bobcats play because I have rooted for them my entire life, but Big Sky Basketball is not elite. Weber State is not elite. The BSC will be one and done this year. Sorry.

Gonzaga is one and done for certain. Ur an obnoxious A$$clown and if other zag fans are as pompous as you I hope you get humiliated in the NCAA's again to be bring you back down to reality. Who builds an arena in this modern day to seat 6,000 seats. Lame. I guess they new you could never get more than that to a game. Dukes Cameron indoor arena was built in 1940, and seats 9,314 btw. It seated 12,000 from 1960-1972. Gonzagas High School size McCarthey was built in 2004.

Sentence by sentence:

1) False
2) Classless response. No substance. Doesn't even respond to what I wrote.
3) A team who wants to keep the tradition of the original Kennel. Small facility, but excellent, quality arena that really does capture the aura of the old Kennel.
4) Again, name calling.
5) Spokane is the second biggest city in Washington State. Gonzaga fans are everywhere, and most people from Spokane would do anything they could to go to a game. The arena just isn't big enough. If we had a 20,000 seat arena, it would sell out, guranteed.

If it was 1940 I could understand, but what kind of a DUMBA$$ institution builds an arena with 6,000 seats in 2004 if they could fill it with 20,000. Again u r an A$$clown.

Great response, but what you really meant is Gonzaga the elite and mighty doesn't have and couldn't get the money to build a real arena. Nice try DumbA$$.

Also, don't put Gonzaga in the same sentence as Villanova, and Duke they have actually won National Championships, Duke has been to the Final Four 14 times. No matter what you tell yourself your not even close to being in their league. :thumb: :thumb: You have definately made me a fan of St. Marys though. :thumb:
