Griz cat game thread

Missed freethrows have been an achilles for WSU too, the game was on the line tonight and one player who is only a 65% shooter was at the line, missed two. :(

Unfortunately, he was not the only one.

What game were you watching?? The Griz WON THE GAME at the foul line. HELLOOOOO????? Griz go 20-28 and made most of them down the stretch where the cats choked to 11-20. Now do the math. :dope:
 
What I think will cost the team is rebounding. I don't mean stats either, it seemed like MSU was able to get a fair amount of second chance shots on rebounds we only half heartedly went after.

you guys should try watching without focusing on emtion and looking for negative things. we win the game at the foul line and people act like we got beat there

MSU came in with a game plan that worked, the Griz proved that they were just too talented for even a good game plan to shut them down.

However I think the Griz should've won this game by much more, if it were in bozeman I think the cats would've won tonight.

Congrats to Rundles and Hasquet on the big night, good to see Staudacher hit some threes and Chavez' defense and hustle in the end helped win this game.

Cost them? Griz won. Griz also won the rebounding battle, 38 - 34. Both teams ended up with 15 offensive rebounds.

Hasquet had 8 rebounds, 6 of them on the offensive end. Both Strait and Chavez had more offensive rebounds then on the defensive end.

Hasquet and Rundles won the game for the Griz. Rundles was player of the game.

Hell, if you can't have a good game plan after coaching these guys for two years, then when will you? Huse did a good job, but if you read some of these stupid game thread posts you would think the Griz got their asses kicked. :lame:

I think people are expecting this to be a mirror image of last year's team. The loss of the senior leaders has really left this team trying to find their identity.

I think Eric Hays summed it up when he was asked about his thoughts on this year's Griz, "They really miss Kevin Criswell and Virgil Matthews, it's not the coaching, that's for sure."

Hays ought to know. Some people think the Griz are going to win every game and if they don't it has to be coaching. Take a look around the BSC, no team is undefeated. NAU just lost to No Colorado.

Backer, I didn't say a word about free-throw shooting. But thanks for the tongue lashing! I'm not focusing on the negative, I'm glad we won. And I was at the game in the student section, and from my perspective we need to be more physical on the boards. Yes we outrebounded them by four, but that is just my opinion and I am entitled to it. If you can honestly say that we don't need to be anymore physical going after rebounds then that if fine, but I disagree. I get sick of how someone talks about their opinion of what the team could improve on down the stretch and they are instantly jumped on. I am not criticizing them and I am a fan.

See my abvoe post. I was there, I know we won and we did MANY things well. I just think we could be more physical, thats all. Sorry for suggesting anything.
 
Very unimpressive game but it's really good to see the griz win a downer game that they didn't really dominate. It's not like the cats out-played them at all it's just that both teams seemed kind of down. Neither team ever got a good run going.
 
A W is a W so the good news we will take it. The bad news is that
the same old same old. The first half we played 11 players. at times
its hard to know who is on the floor without a stopwatch. If I were
a player I would huck up a shot the first time I got the ball thinking
it might be my only chance. Also, I find it amazing that we didn't
go to a zone. The cats were beating us time after time off the
dribble because they were quicker. Duh-most coaches would go
to a zone. Lastly, some players seem to have a charmed life they can
go 2-3 games and not score a point yet start and play most of
the game; I know is not true but a black kid might get the idea
that the race card is a factor. To me the program is a shambles.
I am hopeful it can change but its getting hard to remain optimistic.
