A few days ago I made this post on my formula for winning this game. See below.

"This is how I see it if we are going to win Saturday:

1) Come out ready to play football from the opening kick-off..... something we have not done much this season. We are usually flat the entire first quarter. I can only remember one TD the entire season on our first possession. Have there been others? If we get behind again like we did against EWU, it will be tough, especially if the weather is a factor.
2) The team needs to be more inspired than it has in recent games. Other posters have mentioned how our team just does not show the fire that previous teams have shown, and I agree. This comes from coaching, or lack of it. Delaney couldn't inspire a bowel movement at an Ex-Lax party. Hopefully the other coaches can get them fired up. It IS THE BOBCATS, after all!
3) Our defense needs to control their running game. The Cats have put up some huge rushing numbers all season long. They use a very sophisticated running game, with lots of mis-direction, multiple formations, counter plays, pulling linemen, motion, and option football. If we can stop them from running the ball, and make them a passing team, we will win.
4) On offense, we need to STOP THROWING THE 40-YARD PASS 10 times a game, many times into coverage. Instead, focus on controlling the football longer by moving the football in long, time consuming drives against the Cats weak defense. This also keeps their potent offense off the field.
5) Finally, our special-ed teams need to have a "neutral" game, in which we don't lose the special teams war. We need to at least be neutral on special teams."

This formula was implemented completely by the Griz yesterday. We came out ready to play from the opening KO. We were more inspired, had more fire, than any other game this season. But the Cats did not. Their body language told the story early in the game. Ash, for some reason, did not get them up for this game. They were flat early and never got the fire.

We controlled the running game, as in my point #3, and made them a passing team, which they can not be and be effective. They use the run to set up the pass, and they could not do that yesterday. Gregorak went totally out-of-character by ditching that soft Paulsen type defense, and looked like a reincarnation of Breske Saturday. Our D-line shifted, stunted, dropped linemen into passing lanes, and our LBs moved in and out of gaps pre-snap, totally confusing the Cats O-linemen. It was a thing of beauty!

Bleskin was on his ass after every pass early, and it effected him the entire game, as he looked like a deer in the headlights on most plays. He threw from his back foot on most plays, and rushed his throws into coverage due to the relentless pressure our "D" put on him. Rehm, Wags, Tonga, Peevey owned the line of scrimmage all day long.

On offense, we finally opened up our play book, and started moving the ball methodically on long drives, as I suggested we do in my point #4. We saved the long pass plays for later in the game AFTER we had established our short control-based passing game. My only criticism of the play calling was our continued attempts to run off tackle, with almost no success. We proved we could be effective running wide, but did not do so nearly enough. Still, all-in-all, the best play calling of the season.

Our special teams played pretty well. One fumbled punt by the usual suspect, which we fortunately recovered. One long KO return allowed. Failure to recognize the Cats fake punt, when everyone in the stadium saw it coming! but on the plus side, we made all FGs and extra points. We had great coverage on KOs except for the one.

Individually, the stars of the games, for me, were Tonga, Kose, and Hermy on "D", and Saylor on "O". Very impressive win by the Griz, and they finally out-coached their opponents in this game.
