GRIZ/Bengals

AJ has 30!!

The Griz lead it 70-48 with 7:32 to go, and there will be FREE CHILI in Missoula tonight!!!

AJ was unreal tonight.... :thumb: lovin how were playing... good experience for Vassy and we will be that much better when Jack is back for this road trip.... lovin how we are finishing teams off lately :thumb:

I have been a recent "naysayer" of Wayne Tinkle. However, I must give credit where credit is due. The last 4 games (2 on the road, and these 2 at home) I have been impressed. Griz seem to be playing inspired. They have looked good.

wow are crowd sucks they look like they are at a opera! There was some GREAT ball played tonight and the fans are comatose.

Wow, 4 great games in a row. They are playing both ends of the court as good as any GRIZ team in the last decade, and that includes LK's teams. I even found somethingelse to like on this team. Young looked great tonight. In only a minute of time, Roper looked pretty composed out there too.

Hard to find anything to not like, they are playing excellent of late. A few less turnovers would be icing on the cake. (Just checked the stats, even harder to complain with only 12 turnovers. )

I am glad to see Roper get his name in the boxscore. There is a direct correlation with the Griz momentum and Selvig's PT increasing. Tremendous game tonight against the biggest conference foe of the last five years. Ever since the hard foul by Matt Dlouhy in 2006 it has been a rough series. This is huge for the next three weeks. I really see us beating the cats by 20 (as I mentioned after the loss to them) and us taking the number 3 seed for the bye in the tourney. With the cats loss to Weber, the Griz stand alone in 3rd right now. UNC will probably only lose 1 more game, and that is to Weber. And I don't see Weber losing any more games. So I don't see the seeds changing as of right now except PSU/NAU changing shape because UM will probably not win outright. There is probably a stumble along the way, maybe to a PSU team that wants to kick our tails. So we play and beat NAU in the first round of the tourney. Anything beyond that is tough to say because the conference is tough this year. It is a great year for BSC basketball. I think the UNC is probably the toughest team athletically but WSU is the best coached team and that is why they are where they are. Fortunately the tourney will come down with whose guards play the best and we stand a fairly good chance winning the conference and going to the dance. Not to call the cards before they are drawn, but...

1. WSU
2. UNC
3. UM
4. MSU
5.PSU
6. NAU

Were you there? If not, I hope you aren't relying on the bigskytv feed to assess the crowd. The crowd wasn't as big as yesterday but was far from "comatose" :? . Great job by Cherry tonight igniting the run in the second half after ISU got close. Obviously great games by AH and BQ! :) The Griz bench went nuts after Roper hit his bucket (courtesy of another great pass by Selvig :thumb: )!

Fans comatose - are you kidding me. I was there and the fans were electric despite a huge lead for most all of the second half. Clearly, if you thought the fans were comatose you weren't there. I hope, therefore, that more fans make an effort to see this team in the few games they have left at home. They are the most athletic team we have had in years and when they play aggressively, they are an absolute joy to watch. You simpy can't be comatose, even when they have a 25 point lead.

In defense of Mav, it did appear on BSTV as though the crowd was listless and certainly not loud. There were many, many times I could hear Tinkle yelling out instructions.

I'm extremely happy to hear that those in attendance had a vastly different experience.

If you are unlucky enough to not see this team live when they are clicking, don't criticize the crowd or, for that matter, Selvig. Selvig deserves the praise he is getting lately. He didn't show up in the scoring column, but check who tied for the most assists this game. The way he sees the court is unreal. I wish he was a banger on the blocks, but that's not his game, it's Qvale's and Ward's.

I would go out on the limb and argue that Selvig was the team MVP last night despite not putting points on the board. He was flat out awesome!

The situation produced some quiet. The situation was that the Idaho State Coach got kicked out real quick at the start of the 2nd half. He was upset and they stopped play while Qvale adjusted his contact. It did not effect play but it was reason enough to stir things up and he was gone very quick.

Then the first intentional foul. Crowd always does not know for sure what to do when team is trailing big and a player goes down on the floor under the basket. And a little later another intentional foul. And a technical. Sometimes conference games are not all that exciting at times when they get grindy. And the lead went from big down to 5 points for no particular reason.

At the end of the first half the crowd was beginning to question the officials position on certain situations. The crowd was getting boooy and bored by half. Tinkle was questioning one particular official fella from the beginning. He gave up on him after it did not seem important anymore.

The Weber crowd was about 5300 and the ISU crowd was 3700. Weber is pretty good and ISU should be but with Morgan not playing the crowd took pity.

You are correct I had to catch the game on bs tv . Everytime they showed the crowd they where sitting nicely. You can usually hear the crowd over mick if they are really loud and last night i never had a problem hearing mick. Those of you at the game glad you thought is was good. I think that is still sad though, games in the 80s-early 90's were wayyy louder. Mick made a comment when giving the total attendance for the two games that " we used to get that many for one game".

I agree with everyone the Griz are playing Great ,I wish more people would go out and see this exciting brand of ball they are playing.

GO GRIZ

Barn Ball :Where'd you get your stats that the Weber crowd was 5300. According the Missoulian it was 4557.

You people from out of state that hardly or never go to games but complain about the size or energy of the crowd kill me. Why don't you just enjoy the success of this season rather thinking complaining gives you some kind of power. (I know that's what message boards can be about but save for bobcat, wildcat posters.)

There are some many factors that effect the energy of crowd and attendance that makes it different times than the seventies. In the fall, factors include the football playoff season with it's costs and energy sapping games such as South Dakota State comeback win and of course the blizzard bowl semis which would impact the whole weekend as far as bb attendance. Then there's the student seating and a five week Christmas break. As already recently mentioned the Foresters' Ball the last two nights.

I go to nearly every game both women and men's basketball along with all football and an occasional volleyball match evern though I don't live in town .(an hour away two round trip). And so I take personal when someone who doesn't go to the games but watches them once and a while on tv is critical.

Go Griz
