Great OT win. Great second half by Rundles, including 2 nice shots at the end of the OT and numerous terrific assists. Nice play by CET in OT. Good 3 by Stauds in OT. Great offensive rebounding by Strait and Hasquett late in game and in OT. Nice 3 by Hasquett at end of regulation. Glad we didn't get the T at the end of regulation when the timeout was being called (with not TO's left). Good by others not in the game at the end too, including Martin, Sharp and Qvale.
Congrats to the team and the coaches. Big win. This may propel us thru the end of the season and into the tourney.

Tinkle knows a lot more about what's going on in Rundle's head than anyone else. Maybe Tinkle decided to throw caution to the wind and stick Rundles in there in hopes it would shake him out of his slump. I'm shocked how it worked out, but this game should be a big confidence booster for Rundles, coming at a great point in the season.
Again, looks like they have momentum going into the tourney if they can nail the next 2 games.

Alright, Griz won a game. Or Bengals lost it. But, We'll take it however it comes.
Griz win next two, Cats lose a game, Griz host a first round game with a matchup with the Cats in Missoula.
Or, Griz and Cats win out, and have a Griz - Cat showdown in first round in Bozeman. they actually just need to both win 1 game each for this to happen.
In short, There is a real good chance of a Griz-Cat matchup in first round. Not a 100% chance, but I would say an 80% or higher chance.

That timeout that Hasquet almost called at the end of regulation was real close to being called. That would have been a terrible way to end the game, I instantly thought of Chris Weber and Michigan.
Overall a pretty impressive win. We just dominated in overtime.

Gritty performance by the Griz who won in spite of not playing well for much of the game. Jordan really toughed it out and showed me a lot. Hats off especially to Wayne Tinkle :clap: for leaving Cam in for the overtime. Cam provided some great passes, scoring and defense. It is the Griz defense that really helped them back in the game at the end of regulation and throughout the overtime. Cam was a big part of this. I'm sure Wayne was somewhat tempted to go with Matt Martin in the OT. In this case, sticking with Cam was the wiser choice. :twocents:

great win griz. hats off to cam for playing with confidence. almost lost it with that timeout beingcalled though, i hope the coaches had told the players they did'nt have any, in their timeout a minute before and jordan just made a mental mistake because if not that would be quite a coaching blunder.

Is Martin really 1 for 16, or is that hyperbole? Martin also made at least one gawdawful pass across the court, and there might have been more that I don't remember. (I do have to give him credit...he had one great pass inside to Strait -- at least I think it was Martin who had that nice bounce pass inside)

By the way, I'm not sure the refs gave the Griz a break on the timeout call at the end. They had to see the timeout sign before the final buzzer went off, and with all those arms waving around, I'd think it would have been hard to tell what he was trying to do exactly. Oh well. Guess it doesn't matter. Its academic at this point.

Seemed we did a very good job in the game getting the ball down to Strait in the post and then we would have several straight possessions where the guards took wild 3 pointers without even thinking inside. 3-21 is a slump, hopefully Matt gets out of it quickly.

Yes, Martin has been off on his 3's the past 3 games. Note that 2 of his 3's on Thursday came within the last 25 seconds, when UM was down 9 (and I assume they were desperation shots). In the past 3 games, he is 8-11 from 2-pt range.
Hasquett and Staudacher haven't exactly been lighting it up from 3-pt range in the past 3 games. Hasquett is 7-19 and Stauds is 6-18 during that period.
In those 3 games, Hasquett has averaged 12.7 points, Martin 9 and Stauds 8. During that time, Hasquett has averaged about 38 minutes per game, Stauds 33, and Martin 21.

I'll say this about Martin and Staudacher and basically the whole darn team: they are playing hard to the bitter end! I was impressed with them at Weber, they were getting their collective asses kicked and they kept pressing and hustling. It didn't pay off in a win on Thursday but it did Sunday...

In the ISU game, ISU didn't get a fast break point until into the second half.
I don't recall many fastbreak points off of missed 3-pointers in any of these games.
One thing sorta lost in the ISU discussion, given how the game went at the end, is how well Strait played the whole game. I thought it was one of his best games of the season. Hasquett played well too, especially as the game went on. His 12 rebounds was a huge turnaround from having no rebounds in one of the 2 prior games. Free throw shooting was solid too.

Hasquet showed glimpses of something I have been wanting to see him do, that is create for teammates. 6 assists is certainly a very good number, especially for a forward. I recall to 2 dishes to Strait, and 1 to Qvale were on penetration. Most often in the past he has looked to score those and get himself in trouble with a forced shot and or bad rebounding position. A few times in the past he has showed distribution and penetrating abilty but has not stuck with it. I hope he sticks with it now. With his skills he is capable of making teammates better. Other than Rundles and maybe CET no other GRIZ does that.
Speaking of CET, he is getting better every game. He and Rundles are very capable PG combo. Staudacher and Martin make for a good SG combo as well. However, Martin actually is getting better in scoring from inside the 3, and actually looking to score closer to the basket. He also is a good passer when he does go to the hole.
If Rundles is now back to even close to his old self, a healthy Qvale, and continued improvement from Vanderjagt, this team is very capable of winning the BSC tourney. Unfortunately, it also is capable of tanking it in the 1st round too. The key to this team is good ball movement with good perimeter shooting. They tend to lose focus when the shots are not falling. Which is a shame, their defense and effort is pretty consistent for the most part, and they do play hard much more often than last year.
For this fan there is a light at the end of the tunnel, a very bright one at that. :thumb:
