GRIZ/Bengals threads

I'll be there Sunday but this is getting very hard to take. Something needs to be done.

Don't even think about wavering. A program needs unconditional love from everyone if it is to turn things around.

Robin is politely trying to say it is hard to win with the home cookin' on the road tonight

Robin will beat ISU when it counts.

I know it's not really my place but....
Didn't it count tonight?

I guess I should expect your bullshit by now, but I think most people know full well what I mean. In fact, it doesn't mean much at all given then the BSC only sends 1 team to the NCAA and that team has to win the BSC Tourney. Case in point, last season, the LG dominated all season, got beat in tourney and no NCAA. That is what I meant smartass. :finger:

That's true. I guess I didn't think of that. I see what you mean.

I just got back from the game. I have to say, this Griz team struggles more on offense than any Griz team I have seen in the last 21 years. They did not hit a field goal after Martin's 3 with about 5 and a half minutes left. It is incredibly discouraging to see how frequently offensive possessions end with a low percentage desperation shot after no decent shot opportunity has materialized. I really am not impressed with the defense either, especially the interior defense. Other teams will not score a stack of points because the Griz use virtually all of the shot clock on every possession. However, they score enough. Additionally, it is a boring and frustrating team to watch. A team with no offense is not exciting. I don't think we have beat a D1 team at home since the opener against CSU. That seems like years ago. What happened to that Griz team? We are 4-10 against D1 teams. I have no idea how this gets turned around. :twocents:

I will have The Bud talk to you about the accountability you tried to lecture me on.

I take complete responsibility for my oversight. I didn't realize what you meant by your comment, but now I do. I apologize for my inquiry.

Apology accepted. LG game is pretty easy to breakdown glancing at the stat sheet. ISU made 14 more FT's than the LG even attempted. Fouls were extremely lopsided, and it was the starters who were being whistled. Mandy only played 26 minutes, Rogers 22 minutes, Lohman 12 minutes, Closson 29 minutes, and Tam played 29 minutes, whereas the ISU starters played 40, 36, 31, 29, and 26 minutes. Anyone who has every been to pokey knows what I am talking about. I still remember the crewing Carla Taylor's WSU team took in the title game of the BSC tourney against ISU a few years back.

Another reason other teams do not score so well, is because Griz seem to play well on defense but 20 to 30 seconds in, they let the other team score - many on layups. So, not only do Griz use up the shot clock a lot, but they make the other team use up the clock. But, Griz allowed Bengals to shoot at to high of a percentage today.

If it weren't for bad free throw shooting by the Bengals, the Griz may never have had a lead in the second half.

So, with Weber State winning today, and Griz not playing well, Sunday's game certainly will not be any gimmee. Almost have to favor the Wildcats. I think the Snow up at Snowbowl Ski area could be really good sunday for skiing. I am going up there. May get back in time to watch the game, but ....

Can't argue with you GWhiz. I actually wish I could, it woul dmean I feel better about the team than I do. I am a glutton for punishment, so bring on Weber I say! :thumb:

These math dudes think UM has over a 60% chance to win against WSU. But they also thought tonight held a 82% chance of winning...

Math is for people who either can't read the chicken entrails or don't drink enough. :drinking:

I work as an usher for the games & what isaw is that the guys couldn't buy a basket for about the 1st 10 minutes even with a $100 bill. They were just flat out played by the Bengals the entire game. Seems like there is no team chemistry & they were always trying to get it inside to a big man. #11 Elgin Taylor had at least 3 wide open looks at the basket where he might have made a 2 or 3 pointer & he didn't take it. He tried getting it inside where it was denied.
I've been ushering the mens games for 3-4 years now & this is the worst that I have seen them play. I suspect that they will finish in the bottom 1/3 of the league this year.

So much for BH being under pressure...If the Griz finish that low, you'll hear the crickets chirping in the Adams Center again-

I believe our guard play is as bad as it has been in many, many years...Holy cow, I think I just heard the ghost of Don Holst laughing in the background-

That is why they do math instead of coach hoops. :thumb:

So the RPI must be bunk too right? Too bad it's a huge factor in seeding for the big boy tourney. Math is probably the biggest component of selection and seeding. And this site has a lot of cool shit on it. Hey, at least it has the Griz ranked higher than the RPI does.....

I went to the women's game, and you all got FLAT OUTPLAYED tonight, END OF STORY! Quit making excuses, cuz if we would have rebounded better down the stretch, we would have won by 25! Morales didn't play well, and our two all-stars did. We hit A TON of 3's. On the guys side, what can I say, we play good D, and our brutal non-conference is paying off. We're not that talented on O, but we find a way to win the close ones... Good night for us, bad night for the Griz, and I LOVE IT!
