GRIZ/Bengals threads

What the hell is so hard to grasp? Every game we get our bigs touches and let the 3's come, we win or at the very least play much better!!!! Why can they not grasp that? At least with Graves we have guard who can take the ball to the hole. I am sure that would make a difference.

Tinks
"Bad early...in a fog" "Missed a lot of easy looks"

"win the game going away."

Yeah no kidding... He sounds downright melancholy... Sounds like he is gut shot.

I am starting to think Tinks is in a fog. There is a difference in missing open looks from 3, and pounding it inside and getting looks.

Wayne, summed it up well, a few rebounds, FT's and made open looks and we win. However, come out with energy and play with it for 40 damn minutes and we win this too. I do not care what level or sport it is, there is not any excuses for not playing hard all the time.

As much as I like and respect Tinks. Something has to change. I am not saying fire the guy...But we aren't this bad...we just aren't.

"We have a small margin of error" Yeah...maybe he knows more about this team than we do...or at least more than he lets on...

LG lost by 13. Couldn't over come the 1st half defecit.

Maybe i missed something, but what happened to rogers?...Or are the stats just screwed up...I didn't listen to the game...

Just my two cents here, but take a guy like Stads, he is pretty much a perimeter shooter that can't take a guy off the dribble and take it to the rack, getting a closer look, or drawing a fould. Most guys who are cold from outside take the ball to the hole, Stads cannot do that. So when he is cold, he becomes a liability.

CET flat isn't a good perimeter shooter, but give him credit for the assists tonight.

Martin shot the best of the guards.

Cam, well, not a lot out of him tonight, and he isn't a guy who takes it strong to the hole either.

When the shots are not going down, then go with what is working, pound the damn ball inside to the guys shooting over 60% from the field. Just because their is a three point line painted on the freaking floor doesn't mean you can't cross it on the dribble.

? for anyone that seen the game, Did the GRIZ pressure the Guards at all? If not, that was a huge mistake. I have seen 2 games of ISU on TV and they did not handle pressure well at all, half court or fullcourt. I feel we should have done that with CET, Rundles, and even Graves for a few minutes each half.

Do we ever pressure the ball? I think we should against weaker ballhandling teams. Tonight we were much better defensively with Qvale in there, keep his minutes up there.

GB1, whether the three's are going in or not, the bread and butter for the Griz is making sure Strait gets touches.

GB, you have a point, and I too have been saying the last 2 years we have nobody that wants to penetrate. Our best guys at it do not see the floor. Last year, Swift did when he got a chance, yet very seldom played. This year, Graves came to the GRIZ with this reputation. I seen him scrimmage/practice a few times and he looked to take the ball to the hole more than any GRIZ. Yet, he does not see the floor either.

Does Tinkle not like penetrating players or does he think it clogs up the paint too much for Strait to work? As it is Strait does not see the ball in position enough.

I really think the GRIZ should continually work on penetrating the majority of practices until they can do it consistently. We know we are good offensively in the paint. We know most of the time our 3's will be consistent when taken wisely. We know our defense is improved on last year. Would it hurt to work on ballhandling and penetrating more in practice?

Oh I agree, and I think my posts all season reflect that. I was just saying another weakness our preimter guys have is when they are cold from 3 land, they don't have the ability to make adjustments. I wasn't trying to imply we should ever look for a 3 as the primary shot.
