Good way to start off the conference season on the road with a win over EWU! We shoot the ball very good tonight...just have to work on shooting the free throws. Griz travel to portland on saturday to play portland state and look to go 2-0 in conference play.

Go Griz!

It sounds like we played pretty great tonight. Plus Criswell got his shooting touch back which is a really good thing. PSU lost to MSU by 7 tonight and it looked like it was an ugly game. Both teams had at least 20 turnovers. There were a total of 74 rebounds in the game and neither team shot higher than 35% from the field. Prognosis for a Griz win on Saturday looks good...asuming they can get to Portland. PDX has been shut down for about 3 days due to ice (MSU had to fly into Seattle and bus down) but they're supposed to be opening the airport tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be able to get on our regularly scheduled flight because it might be hard to get onto another flight.

Actually they might have some problems traveling tomorrow. Three airlines are not operating at PDX tomorrow (Alaskan, America West and Northwest) and Horizon is questionable. Horizon, Southwest and Alaskan are usually the best to fly between Spokane and Portland. Also a lot of the airlines aren't starting operations until later in the day (11am or noon) so if the team has a morning flight it might get cancelled. There is also a possibility of more freezing rain in Portland tonight which could shut down the entire airport again. Good thing the guys have a full day between games.

According to the Missoulian the team is going to take a bus down here...which is probably the smartest bet...but it could be a long trip because ODOT keeps closing I-84 due to unsafe travel conditions.

it's pretty nasty in Portland. The cats were going to fly there, and got stuck in Seattle, and ended up bussing down to Portland, becasue all flights from seattle to portland were canceled. Apparently the entire trip ended up taking about 14 hours. From the sounds of it we didn't play very well, luckily PSU didn't play very well either. Hopefully you don't have the same officials that reffed our game last night. Our radio announcer was laughing the obsurdity of some of the calls, apparently there were sh*tty calls against both teams, and a lot of sh*tty "make-up" calls.

Good luck with PSU!! It sounds like they are REALLY big, and that the Walker kid is a stud. It should be an interesting game, but I think all BSC games will be interesting this year. It would be HUGE if both Montana teams finished up the first BSC road trip 2-0.

Cheers

Portland is an insane mess right now. I got stranded in my house for a couple of days because the roads were too icy to go anywhere. PDX has been closed since Tuesday (some airlines reopened today). I-84 was closed for 3 days but reopened this morning. I don't think I've ever seen a storm like this in Portland. PSU (like all schools in the area) has pretty much been shut down all week with the exception of some classes early in the day on Monday and the PSU-MSU game on Thursday. The weather finally thawed out a bit today which is good cause it means I might actually be able to drive myself down to PSU for the game tomorrow night.

Right now PSU does think they're hot stuff. They were 6-7 in non-conference which is pretty good for them and in The Oregonian Schroyer was talking about PSU making a run at the big sky championship. They are much improved over last year but I don't quite think they're that good. They had a pretty good non-conference record but they didn't play a very tough schedule. They have the lowest RPI of the big sky schools (259) and the easiest schedule fo all the big sky schools.

BTW...I don't know how someone determined that its an 8 hour bus trip from Cheney to Portland. Its only 350 miles so unless you're going 45mph it shouldn't take more than 6 and a half. Most of the roads are fine until you get to the gorge and then they're requiring chains.
