Griz BB underperforming

You dudes just don't get it, do you? You look at everything from 40,000 feet. "Tinks will be fine", "Tinks will evolve in a tough guy instead of the laid-back nice guy he has been all of the years of his life", Tinks will learn to be a good coach".

I break it down to what I see on the court. The teams plays without emotion most of the time, which is something they never did under Krysto, because he would not tolerate it. Wayne does.

The team plays matador defense under Tinkle, something that they did not do last year, because Krysto would not tolerate it. Wayne does.

The team suffers from a lack of identity. Last year, they had an identity.

So, you can post all of the flowery "he'll get 'em next year" posts you want. But, until I see some passion, some identity, some great team defense, I am not buying it.

I agree the griz seem listless in their approach to the game. I can easily see them going 8-8 in the sky and losing in the first round of the playoffs. They have no consistant flow or heart as a team.

So whats your solution cheif? You seem to be able to dish out the bitching and moaning with plenty to go but I've yet to hear a solution.

You're right this team lacks identity, it also lacks on floor leadership and their D is weak, especially at the perimeter. Its an issue with both coaches and players.

I think maturity will help, a summer together will hopefully help this team gel. I think as well if Tinks does not toughen up on these guys by next year and the results are the same then its time to start shopping for a new coach. In football Joe Glenn proved a friendly buddy-buddy relationship can work, and Bobby Hauck proved a more rigid approach works as well (as did Coach K).

I expect this team to improve, in fact they have been (6-2 in their last 8 games). Hopefully the improvement will continue into the tourneys (or as bobaloo says "playoffs")

Don't bother to try to reason with SGF Remax, his favorite coach is always the last one...although I think it will be hilarious to pull up his nasty comments about Tinkle and Hauck if/when they move on to the next levels and the replacements struggle-

I, also, was worried about Tinkle and this team. That said, they seem to have turned a corner and won tonight without their best player...I'm starting to believe they have a chance.

it is amazing how much knowldege the short one possess, yet he wasn't even at the game. He claimed he watched the Griz in the Pre season tourney and went to NAU, so he has seen a whopping 4 games. I doubt he even knows that there are now 3 teams with 4 losses in BSC play, the Griz are in second, tied in the loss column with WSU. Griz got it done tonight even without Strait, who is their MVP. sgf is clueless as always..

SGF, I agree this team is lacking Identity and defense struggles more often than not. I even respect your criticism of the coaches. However, regardless of sport or coach, one has to take your criticism of any coach with a grain of salt. I have only been on EGRIZ since Aug. 06. I cannot recall one time you giving credit to any coach, even for one game, or yet one moment.

A coach does not have to be a HARD ASS to be successful. Regardless of coach or sport, my impression or your expectations is anything less than a perfect record is failure!!!!

If athletics were based on your expectations there would be a new coach every year until one goes unbeaten. It is hard for other egrizzers to 100% get behind your criticisms, even when you are right. Why is that? We hardly ever see you post anything positive regarding our coaches. Eventually if one says and does the same thing repeatedly they will eventually be right.

Just like gambling, if one goes in all the time, eventually they will win a big pot, but come out behind overall. However, good points about the defense and identity. All due respect, Tinkle will turn out to be a very good coach.

SGF cannot ever say I never came to his defense. He has said something positive about a Griz Coach this season, and it was Hauck of all people. Now, he did preface it by telling us how drunk he was on Crown Royal, but he did say he was WRONG about Haucks recruiting ability. It is a start, but he has one hell of a hill to climb. The prognosis is dire.

I don't think watching a team a whopping 4 times in a season (how many of these viewings were live??) makes one an expert, especially when the expert in this case routinely slams anything having to do with the Griz. This team has made progress (both the coaching staff and the players). :twocents:

sgf went to nau, he watched the other games on tv. He will deny it, but his posts show otherwise.

You are totally wrong. I never bashed Joe Glenn, Don Read, nor Mick Dennehy. I never bashed Larry K., nor Stu Morrill, nor Monty, nor Brandy, nor Jud. I never bashed Selvig. I only give criticsm when it is deserved, and it is deserved with Bobby Hauck. I have made up my mind on Tinkle yet. But, I see many troubling things which lead me to believe that he is more like his first mentor, Holst, than his second, Krysto. As I said, I am willing to give him one more year. The fact is, his team is talented, but they are underperforming their talent. This must be because of coaching. I will be proven right about Hauck. He will NEVER get the Griz to Chattanooga during his tenure. Mark it down. He has dumbed-down the once-proud Griz football program by the clever scheduling of seven home games against cup cakes, and buying out road trips to Cal Poly, Maine, and SDSU because he knew it was a probable loss. He is mezmerizing the pedestrian fan with his 10-2 or 11-1 records, only to be embarrassed at home by less talented but better-coached playoff teams.

No Griz fan who supports the continued dumbing-down is helping this program. Rather, your blind loyalty is contributing to the embarrassing offense we are forced to endure, and the distant dreams of playing for the NC 5 times in 10 seasons. I know that you will be proud of sticking by your coach in five years when you look back in memory of the last time we visited Chattanooga in 2002. It will be 10 years by then, and suddenly it will occur to you that maybe I was correct all along.

My convictions are strong, and they are correct. Division I coaches are not salivating to hire your boy, much to your obvious surprise. But, it is no surprise to those of us who understand the game of college football. Bobby will never get more than a non-BCS school to take a chance on him. And, he may never even get that chance. You all need to wake up and deal with reality......Hauck in not, nor ever will be a hot coaching commodity. In fact, his stock is at its highest now, and will diminish after another season of dissapointment in the playoffs next year.

Way to de-rail that conversation, I thought we were talking about Tinkle.

Reading and comprehension passed him by long ago. Books without pictures and on syllable words are simply just too tough for the height challenged one.

Uh, what's this have to do about basketball? And, there's even some incorrect facts about the football team that you state as facts. Facts are not your strong point SGF. Give it a rest.

I could have been your father, but my brother beat me to it cause he had change for a dollar.....

Spanky thinks that SGF should call on coach Hauck at his office and outline what steps should be taken to improve upon his job performance as head football coach at UM. I'm certain that coach Hauck would be delighted to listen to an individual with such immense knowledge of football. He might even decide to offer SGF a position( of sorts).

Are you drunk already? You make less sense each day. Why don't you get that help you so desperately need. I bet the powers that be might even let you have one of your 50 other names you have had on here back if you do. :loser:
