There's a great idea. Publish the alleged victims' names so the Griz Sunshine Pumpers can harass and intimidate them. I can just imagine some of the things the delusional fans on this board would post toward any woman who dared to claim she was assaulted by a Griz football player.

Reading this place, it appears that the majority seem to believe that every single alleged rape is being brought forward by women who are lying about it. Either that, or I've read that because a lot of women supposedly get raped, that it's not that big of a deal.

Just disgusting stuff, and I have to wonder if some of you would say the same things about the alleged victims if your own identity was known to the public.

Typical lynch mob thinking.

Both the accuser and the accused are on equal footing until the case is pursued then taken to court to find the truth. JJs word is as good as his accusers, and hers is as good as his until the court uncovers what it can if it comes to that. People who know either person could understandably assume the person they know is a good person and would say so to others asking about the accuser or the accused.

Having lived outside this country for a few years coming back is depressing when people like you want to throw all our freedoms into the garbage with these lynch em now mentality.

Who said anything about a lynching? The law says that the name of an alleged victim is not to be released. If you don't like the law, change it. Short of doing that, the only lynching being advocated seems to be by posters like you who think the names of alleged victims should also be named in public.

You're an idiot, dude.

I never demanded the name. I stated both JJ and his accuser are equals in term of who is telling the truth until the court of law decides.

Learn to read moron.

Who said anything about a lynching? Tokyo, with every breath he takes.

Lynching is taking the rights of anyone accused away and replacing it with "Mob Justice". There is no rule of law, no ability for accused to defend themselves, any accusation is assume true and acted upon as such.

This fits Engstrom and most of the people like you on this board to a T.

Guys, I don't think has been said yet, but I really think that this just sounds like a typical lynch mob deal to me.

It's fairly obvious that we need to fire Royce Engstrom. Man, I can't believe nobody has said this yet!

Yeah, that's obvious. Again, though, why did you bring up a lynching? Have you slept since the news broke yesterday? I do realize that you've been one of the bigger Sunshine Pumpers on this board. I even remember when you published the name of the police officer who tazed one of our heroes, and said he should be harassed.

I really have no clue what the hell you're talking about in this thread.

Can somebody clue me in? It's 2:40am in Tokyo ... are you hitting the bottle? Get some sleep.

For what its worth, I think both contract non-renewals were a huge mistake and I don't even really like Pflu. I know and like O'Day a ton. But the bottom line is, they aren't coming back regardless and we may never get a satisfactory answer as to what precipitated this and why it occurred at this inopportune time. I think it was Engstrom covering his own butt a bunch. Now lets move on.

This.

I presume there's more to the story. l also presume the following words apply: "scapegoats," "fall-guys," "sacrificial lambs," "heat deflectors."

But what's done is done.

Some people on this board act like it's the first time a coach or AD has ever been fired. It's what ALWAYS happens when a team implodes. They can't "fire" the whole team, so the people in leadership positions are canned. Call 'em "scapegoats" or "fall-guys" or whatever....it's part of their J-O-B to not have shit like this happen on their watch. When it does, they should be held accountable and they were. What concerns me are two things:

a) that it took this much SHIT and this many issues for Engstrom to finally hold the leadership accountable; and
b) that some on this board view O'Day and Pflu as blameless in the actions of the players.

Does anyone realize that Pflu's comments to the press regarding Jordan Johnson were wrong? As soon as I read those I thought the writing was on the wall for Plfu's future. All the work Missoula has done to say sexual assualt is not okay and Pflu turns around and praises Johnson's morale character while there is an ongoing rape investigation. I don't know if Johnson is guilty, I don't believe in trying someone in the Missoulian or on egriz, however I do understand that comments like Pflu's the leader of Griz Nation basically called the alleged victim a liar to all the world. Not smart for someone in his position and a PR nightmare.
My rational mind agrees with this - particularly from a "last straw" perspective. JJ should not have seen the field until after Spring break, and the public comment was horrendous if one has any consideration for the alleged victim. I understand those that don't, but it is what it is. Given the differences in attitude and perception between O'Day and Pflu after the dismissal, I surmise that O'Day was told to fire the coach and refused to do so. Jim knows the real way to stand behind his guy.

Maybe just another rumor but heard at lunch today that over $500,000 in pledges toward a new science building have been withdrawn in the past two days. Boosters don't just help pay for scholarships. That's the part that's concerning to me.

Even though it shouldn't be the case, the FB team has become the most significant link to alums around the country. Our FB success over the past 25 years seems to have a pretty close relationship to the school growing from 9,000 to 15,000 sutdents, numerous new facilities on campus and a successful $100,0000,0000 campaign the UM foundation completed a couple of years ago.

The fire may die down, but the near term effects are going to last awhile.

These are the same idiots who think that Zimmerman should be lynched for victimizing Trayvon, before any facts are even released! Football before anything. Pathetic. I hope that none of them are actually UM grads, just band-wagon fans who jumped on board when the Griz started winning in the 1980s. The real Griz fans understand that these firings were necessary to get this train on the right set of tracks again.

Cliff Edwards is pissed because the guy who presided over the most thuggish era of Montana football has finally been let go after numerous chances to amend things.

Shocking.

Too bad he couldn't have shown up sooner and used his blowpiece to represent some of the victims who were being curb stomped, raped, and who knows what else is yet to be revealed.
Exactly, Edwards is nothing but a blowhard who most of the time doesn't know his ass from his elbow.
Obviously... as proven by his 8-figure bank account.

Had to laugh. I am the target of such comments on this board. Funny how such dumb-asses can make so much money, huh?

money is great. i do just fine but i'd take more. but it's about .005% of what makes me...me. :thumb:

By screwing other people, he's a lawyer

The one thing that makes me nervous about an article like this is there are no facts released at this point...

To have boosters saying these things publicly without knowing the entire story demonstrates that some of the boosters were too close to O'Day. One really has to question their motives after these emotionally charged reactions are now public information.

Threats of pulling booster money because the AD and Head Coach were dismissed? Are these guys supporting the University or buying their way into advising the program?

Questionable is about the best that can be said for the quotes in this article.
