Griz at UW Predictions

People who think we’re going to score 24 are high (IMHO). When was the last time we scored 24 on a P5 opponent?

T'was the fall of '53. I remember the milk man dropping off the week's supply in the morning. I had to fix the starter on the Hudson before I could make the trip over to the game. Three frankfurters for 20 cents. I don't remember the team, Tigers? Something weird. Anyway, the wife and I had been going steady for a few fortnights by that point, but she still didn't want to come with me to the game, lest she be out with a man after dark. I went over to her place after the game, told her about the Griz victory, and we just necked on the davenport for a solid 30 minutes. She snapchatted me a nude selfie the next morning.

As for this game: 52-17, UW.

9-7-96, Montana 35 Oregon State 14

I still have that game on VHS somewhere. 😂

That was the day we realized we’d be juuuuust fine without Super Dave.

On your A game I see! I like it!

UW's strengths are at Oline and their secondary. Therey have average QB play, and very poor WR depth. Their receiver with the highest upside who was a high 4-star recruit was injured and had surgery yesterday, so he may not even play. They have had a ton of WR's hit the portal in the last 6 months or so. If the Griz can contain their run game a little and force them to pass, while moving the ball at an average pace on offense, the game will likely be closer than UW would prefer. No ay the Griz win this, but UW does have some weaknesses that could and should be exploited.

We'll probably be down something like 28-3 at half, and Bobby will try to get as many guys chances to play as he can.

I'll say 42-10 final.

Just to clarify for a certain poster, I certainly hope we win, though!

I do not believe UW will have 28 at halftime.

It may be a little pessimistic of me, but 2 of the last 4 FBS games we've been in, we allowed 28 or more points in the first half (UW 2017 and UT 2011). Very different teams, but it's the nature of these games.

I think if we play well, we can hold them to around what we held Oregon to in 2019 (21), but a few miscues or mistakes on offense might give them enough chances to score more than that. I'm still a little worried about how Cam will fair in this one (not a slight on him, I'd be worried if Brown were starting, too).

If we hold them under 20 points in the first half, I'll consider that an incredible performance (and it will be necessary if we want to stand any chance of beating them. There, please don't disown me as a Griz fan  ).

Thanks, man. I gotta be ready for the season and the scores of opposing fans attempting to talk shit on eGriz. The players are in all their fall camps, and I’m in mine. Trying out a few new wrinkles to keep them guessing. I never chose the role of defender, it chose me. And I must protect this house.
