Griz at PSU Predictions

Griz are finally getting to play teams they match up well with defensively. Out of this “gauntlet,” sac and ewu were the most dangerous.

Griz 38
Psu 17

I feel like the game will be fairly close for the first three quarters (similar to the Monmouth game)...Griz game plan to win TOP works and we pull away at the end. I think Toure gets more involved this week and has a good game.

I was impressed with the win last week, but as the Griz Fan Podcast said at the beginning of the year, it feels like a trap game. I do like the revenge factor in our favor as well.

Griz win, 41-21.

I think this game will be similar to the Monmouth game, which means that it is clear we are the better team, but don’t quite put them away until the 4th quarter. I think Toure gets more involved this week and I like the revenge factor in our favor.

Most of you seem to predict that this will be an easy win even though PSU is good this year and lost a close game to Arkansas. Portland is always a tough place for the Griz to play no matter how good or bad PSU is. It seems like the games are always real close, even years ago when we would come in ranked #1 and they were a bottom dweller. I expect this game will be real close but the Griz can pull it out if they do not turn the ball over.
Griz-31
PSU-30

This is going to be a tough game for Griz. They have been the best in the league vs the run. So Griz will have to open it up and Humphrey will have to make plays. Griz win an ugly game 21-17.

Humphrey gains confidence. Gets the go ahead to sling the ball like he does in practice.

Team still pissed about Oregon and Sac St. Refuses to be beat by three green teams in one season.

D holds PSU to one TD.

GRIZ 38
Green Team 16

I feel last week the Griz proved they are trending in the right direction of following up a tough loss with a solid win. This will be an interesting test for the team playing a PSU squad which most posters feel is worse than their record indicates. The wildcard here is now PSU has a game's worth of game film to study Humphrey & develop a game plan based on that. Much like how the Griz came out with a 3 TE set many times last week to throw EWUs game plan slightly off, I believe the Griz will be able to do the same again this week & come away with a strong win to lead into a (hopefully) long stretch of not having to leave the state of Montana until mid December for another game.

GRIZ - 31

Portland State - 21

I looked at the defensive stats for PSU in their 5 Big Sky games, since none of their other 4 games are anything to judge as far as stats go.

They give up a total of 125.2 yds rushing/game, 290.6 yds passing/game (415.8 total)
That's against the nos. 6, 9, 10, 11, 12 teams in the Big Sky Conference. I mean c'mon...197 yds rushing by NoCo, 177 by ISU, 100 by NAU (a team not known for their rushing ability). And the only team they held to under 300 yds passing was Idaho, which was a pretty impressive defensive game for PSU. Griz have been getting better & better in the 1st quarter, and as long as they keep mistakes at a minimum they will blow out PSU.

Griz win 41-20
