Let's hope the griz can slow down that BSU team. I watched one game this year, and it looks like they have some tracksters on the team. I think we can at least keep it closer than last year.

I think the key to that game will be controlling the tempo. BSU likes to get up and down the court. I think it would favor the Griz to play zone and slow them down a bit. Try to win the game in the half court offense and not get into a fast break contest with them.

I agree about the zone, but if the griz play too much zone, it will open up the three-ball for Karl and company. As George Karl's son, I'm sure he can fill it up. He's made six threes in a game twice at the collegiate level. The griz can't let that happen....

I've heard Coby can light it up now and then, but I think they need to take their chances and hope BSU has an off night from the perimeter.

You know, the more I think about it, you're right. If BSU goes cold from the perimeter, the Griz have a definite shot at the upset. Hopefully, the student section will be rockin' and throw some of those BSU shooters off. I ran the computer simulation on the game, and I think that's exactly what happened. The Griz won in OT 68-66.

Are we the only two that care about this game?

Somebody's gonna say: "No you are just the only two who are at home on a message board on Saturday night." By doing so proving that they too, are at home on a message board on saturday night.

Seriously, I do care about this game and I'm hoping some more griz fans do too.

How can we stop the man with two first names: Reggie Larry?

But the Griz have a guy with two last names: Jordan Hasquet

That is true. However, the conventional "wisdom" that two first names and two last names cancel out is incorrect. When the announcer announces a score by an opposing/dark jerseyed player, he usually only says the last name. By saying a first name (which is really the last name) when the player scores, the announcer creates confusion within the over 70 demographic in attendance, and thereby creates a sentiment of "they don't do it like they used to 'round these parts", which can lead to lower attendance and aggregate alumni contribution.

Good point, GrizWhiz! In all seriousness though, I think we have our hands full with BSU. Playing at home will hopefully give us a boost.

The key to beating BSU for you guys is to force us into turning the ball over. We have had really bad problems with that this year, and even last year.

BSU likes to run up and down the court and our success is normally based on guard play, BSU has a lot of guards. This season, however the two guys that have been carrying us are our two big-ish guys. 6'9 transfer from Eastern Washington, Matt Nelson (was Big Sky frosh of the year 2 years ago), and our transfer from CSI, 6'7 Reggie Larry. If we go cold shooting (which happens too much), Montana can just focus on the big guys, force us into turn overs, and probably win this pretty easily.

I am exciting to see what BSU looks like when NOT turning the ball over left and right. It happened for most of the game vs BYU, which we won 72-68, but we up by 15-20 for most of it. We can be scary good, but very, very beatable, especially on the road.

I will have to try to follow the Montana team this year. I might be transferring up there from BSU next year.

I guess you are too young to remember a decent basketball player by the name of Michael Jordan? And I know a lot more people with the last name Jordan as opposed to the first name.

Nice win for the Griz. Hopefully the team learned a lot on the FLA trip and can now apply those lessons going into this homestand and conference play in January... :thumb:
