Did you guys double slim much? I really don't know a thing about ISU....do they have good enough shooters where we won't be able to double team millins down low?

Who was guarding him? Did you play any zone?

Just wondering what I can expect to see out of MSU defensively Saturday night.

The way they came out shooting we could have used 10 guys on D. When teams are lighting it up they are a load. They had the inside/outside game going early. Millien is a load. The Griz are in his face and he can simply out-athlete you. The Griz played a tough man D and did force a lot of turnovers which was the difference in the game. If they shoot like they did here you guys will have your hands full. On the other hand, the cats were pretty hot themselves. I see your game going to the wire, but you should be used to that by now.

Chavez and Strait were the primary defenders on Millien. Man to man, Didn't see to many double teaming on him.

Henry, Kinghorn, and Schroeder all can hit the 3, and are good shooters.

It sounds like we will be in for a tough game if they play as well as the did in Missoula...hopefully they have an off night. Nice win for you guys, you shouldn't have any problems w/ Weber.

ISU is a good team. I can see how they can have bad shooting nights and only score 50 points now though. Millien has improved a whole lot from last year. His defensive presence really affected our play.

Millien's the type of player who you should expect to get 15 points, 8 boards and a couple of blocks every game. Henry, Schroeder, Kinghorn and Abdul-Ahad all hit 3's. But after those 5 players, ISU didn't play anybody else. They had a big body, but he didn't really do much.

ISU turns the ball over quite a bit. They're a little sloppy and they don't look to be a very disciplined team, IMO. Complained quite a bit, and probably could have been called for a couple of T's last night. Their attitudes are definitely not the best.

I'd bet that this team gets 8-10 league wins, but will lose 3 or 4 games by 20 this year when they have an off shooting night.

What about Weber? It sounded like the Cats handled them fairly easily. Do they have anything to make you think that they'll do any better in league than they have in non-conference thus far?

The griz poor shooting wasn't just outside shooting, it was more when they took the ball to the hoop. Instead of finishing strong too often they tried the under-the-basket hook layup. ISU had this play scouted well, and the shot was often blocked, and drew few fouls, and too much iron.

If the Griz had finished harder at the hoop they might have been able to put ISU in foul trouble. Give credit to ISU, though, very few shots came easy or were open for the Griz. The game was everything I thought it might be going in, and was a good win for the Griz.

It speaks volumes about the 2005-06 Griz that they can be outplayed and outshoot as they were last night and still win. I thought Virgil Matthews while having a few good plays, was really off his game with some questionable shots and ball handling. I see Chavez getting even better with extended playing time.

Slim Millien was a greatly improved player over last year. He may need some poundage on his 6'7" 195 lb frame, but he IS an athlete. Coach K noted his exceptional shot blocking ability. I was impressed and look forward to seeing him peform on Altitude sports on the return game in Poky.

It was ridiculous how many shots Slim sent out last night. It seemed in the first half that whenever ISU got the ball they hit the shot. The griz always had an answer to ISU's runs and pulled within 4 at half which was critical. We all knew that ISU was not going to shoot 65% from the field the whole game and when the shooting started to slow that is when the Grizzlies made their move and took the lead. Good game (students were giving it to Millien)

One thing that is very dangerous is comparing scores and making assumptions about upcoming opponents. I don't think Krysko will allow his guys to take Weber lightly. They still have a great winning tradition and they will be looking for a road split. Weber has always been a nice rival of the Griz. I still laugh everytime I see Coach Cravens hoping he will do his infamous "bunnyhop" which made ESPN highlights for a long time.

I thought Ellis did a pretty good job running the point in the last 10 minutes. Maybe Krysko is beginning to see a change is in order? I don't mind Marting running the point I just wish he would learn some shot selection.

Ellis did a nice job indeed. It seems like Martin has flashbacks to his HS days when he was the man and took all the big shots. One thing about Martin though, when he gets it going he can drain 3's all night.

Martin needs to settle down at the point and realize that there are different people on the floor other than himself. I wouldnt be dissapointed to see him feed it to Strait EVERY time down the floor. Andrew is our horse right now and it seems that the offense works around him. He is also very consistant with his game scoring averaging just over 17 points a game along with 6 boards and only 29 minutes a game....

Slim IS the ISU team. He can leap and block and rebound as good as anyone. He is the skinniest Power-Forward in America, but he has a sweet arc-ing shot if he is going against a bigger guy. He has some skills. Take it at him and it will get rejected. The Griz finally figured it out and quit going at him, or at least head-faked him to get him off his feet, like Chavez did. Millien will take care of things inside, but Kinghorn, Schroeder and Akbar-Ahad need to be on from outside or ISU will not win, period. They all have the potential to be on though, so it's a game-by-game thing with them. They aren't bad. They have very little depth though.

I agree they are rather undisciplined and negative attitudes are their downfall. Even when they were winning, the coach and the team seemed to be bitching about every call and had a negative vibe, instead of pumping up the kids and keeping them positive. They seemed to have a "here we go again, we're gonna get screwed on the road" attitude instead of buckling down and working harder to over-come things. Hard to tell from one game, but that's the impression I had.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't beat MSU Saturday.

Martin is far better about shot selection than he was last year. But, can improve more on it, and he will.

They really don't have much. We could have easily won by 20+. They banked in a couple of threes in garbage time. We had a double digit lead for about 25 minutes of the game.

They weren't very big or physical. Not too quick, and their big time scorer (Briggs #1) didn't really get the ball. They had a guys who was stroking it pretty good (#34), but I think he just had a hot night.

I was very surprised that they didn't double team any of our big guys. If they continue to stay at home I would expect Strait to have a huge game, as their big guys aren't very good defenders. They started off in man-to-man, but after we were killing them inside they switched to zone...at which point our shooters (especially Dissly) went off.

Offensively they move pretty well, and set a lot of off the ball screens. A lot of back picks, and screen the screener plays. We switched everything, and played a sagging help defense on the mismatches. We seemed to scout them pretty well, and they were pretty frustrated offensively. Their big guys are very capable of stepping out and shooting it from 15-18 feet.

Their rebounding was also pretty bad. Their big guys aren't that big, and cannot jump. We killed them on the boards.

I would expect that you beat them soundly...especially if they don't double down on Strait.
