Griz 75, Santa Clara 77, and Griz should have won it

Griz BB lost to Santa 77 - 75.

Start of the game, it looked like the Griz would be totally blown out. Was down 15 points. But fought back, got within 47 - 39 at half.

Second half Griz fought with tooth and nails and tied the game 75 points with 28 seconds and with the ball. But there, things went bad, Griz took the ball down, took some time off the clock and then that Number 30 Perkins steals the ball and rumbles on down for a layup to take the lead for good with 2.7 seconds left. Criswell did get a 3 point shot off but missed a close one.

Criswell lead the team with 17, Dlouhy had 15 points, Matt Martin 13 points, and Davis with 10 points.

Brian Lynch did not play. Found himself on the bench because of the play by Matt Martin.

Matt Martin had his best game of the season and should be the starting point guard for the rest of the season. He only had 2 turnovers for the whole game. Unfortunately, that second turnover ended up being the one that Perkins stole the ball and won the game. Can't really blame Martin totally for that because Strait kind of interfered with the play a little thinking the play was broken.

Seyfert started both halves, but not to long from now, he will be sitting on the bench along with Lynch. Strait could be the second freshman on the team to take over as a starter.

Andrew Strait scored 9 points, but also snared 7 rebounds. Each game he has improved and is playing quite consistent for a true freshman.

Kevin Criswell showed he is the best player on the team. Sure glad he is back from his injury as he was certainly key in all the games he has been in since coming back. Grizzlies have been looking so much better with him back.

Kamar Davis had his worst shooting game of the year, I believe. 2 for 11 from the field. Big reason Griz lost the game.

Refs were dissappointing, but wasn't the reason Griz lost. I would say the first half shooting lost the game.

But, Griz were called for two intentional fouls. One I believe was the correct call. But, the second by Criswell, was not. Clearly trying to go for the ball. First intentional call, A griz player grabbed the player and knocked him down.

Anyway, this team has improved so much this year, and except for the first half of the first half, looked quite good.

This team has a lot of upside. Matt Martin's play at point has almost eliminated my worries for the point guard position. Andrew Strait will be the best player for Griz in the next three years. Well, Criswell has one more year, but with Martin, and Strait, there shouldn't be as much pressure on Criswell this year and next year.

even though this was a loss, I think it is a good building block for your team. SCU beat an at the time ranked #2 North Carolina team, and they beat Stanford. You guys only lost to them by two. Krystowiak has this team headed in the right direction.
