Griz 2006-07 Schedule

Could not agree more w/ mtgrizrule's post. The student section needs to do more. I was one of 3 or 4 that tried to get people to yell, even do a bit of duke on d but it didn't help too much. At one point a friend and I even volunteered w/ the marketing department to try and get a better attitude going. I'm a volunteer manager right now but i almost want to quit to be back in the student section, just to try and make it a little better.

Thanks man, I appreciate. It is nice to have a student posting here too. I will volunteer too if need be. A few questions for you, Have other students told you why they do not support the team? Have you told Tinks anything you hear? I had an old coach who would always get inside info from students to help promote the team to the students.
As for the team, I follow them as much as I can at games and practices, but not at practice as often as I would like. Anyway, How well does Vanderjagt compete in practices? The little I have seen of him, he looks very solid offensively with good foot work. How consistent is Staudacher shooting the 3? Any info on the other newbies? I pretty well know what the returners bring. BTW, welcome aboard egriz.

BTW, athomeinthedahlbergden, Hang in there if you can. Not sure if you plan to pursue basketball coaching later or not? If you do, it would do you wonders learning from Tinks, Hill, Duchesne, and Marso. They coach basketball the way it is supposed to be coached in all regards. You should consider yourself fortunate to have this opportunity, take advantage of it. You will not regret it! Take that for what it is worth.

You people are sweating this thing alittle too much, students will show to games soon enough. This program has just got its head about water, give it time to catch its breath.

I predict by conference play, the student section will be full and crazy. I must say that the 3-4 soliders that held it down in the student section last season with the white board, and sheet of paper that had information on all the opponents information should be congratulated.

Ill be holding it down in the student section this year, and will cheer when called upon

I haven't heard much from students, once they're told to start supporting they're generally all for it. It's just people realizing that we have a damn good team and bball games are really a great time. I might get shot for saying this but being in the front row, bouncin up and down at a bball game [for me] beats being front row on the goal line at a football game.

On vanderjagt, he does get in there and does get his reps, but not as much as a starter or even the upper bench players. Tinks is really trying to work w/ him, trying to get him to get into an athletic stance more, use his height, things like that.

As far as stads goes, he kind of scares me. He's supposed an incredible shooter but he does miss a lot. When he does miss he kind of loses everything there is to his game. He's missed some of the shots that are set up for him. I always look for him to knock down the ones that are set up for him, you know, reddick style. But he has been missing, anyone at the scrimmage might've seen this. He made a few more in practice as of late but not where he could be. It could easily be him adjusting to the college game, college life, nerves etc.

My blog entry said otherwise earlier, but right now Chase and Rundles are the most impressive new players. Also, it's great to see Sharpie really emulate strait's game. Their post moves are almost identical but sharp extends his range out to the arc and takes his fair share of jumpers.

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it. Very encouraging what you said about Sharp!!!!!! If he is getting that good, I feel sorry for post players having to defend Strait, Sharp, Chase, and Hasquet. Speaking of Hasquet, I think he is capable of scoring from anywhere with ease this year. Then again, I do not see him every day. Is that the case with him in practices?

not anywhere with easy as he isn't as good as chase or strait in the post but hasquet is a freaking beast. definitely one of the best player's on this year's squad. i remember him knocking down a buzzer beating fade in practice the other week. He just knocks down big shots with people all over him like it's his job. He can shoot from the perimeter and can definitely control the mid-range game. very impressive thus far.

Give Stads a little break you guys. Tinks was interviewed at halftime of the Griz game and talked about Stads. He said the kid was pressing a little because he had not been in that type of environment for a while. Tinks said the kid can fill it up and he isn't worried about him a bit. He just needs to get his rhythm back and feel like he fits in. All in due time. Tinks is a great communicator and very encouraging type of coach so Stads will come around soon, just watch.

That's what i was meaning to say, he's had his misses, but he just needs to get his rhythm back. I know once he hits his stride he'll be dumping in the trey's. He's having something of a rough go right now but i'm sure it'll come.
