Gregorak's big plans for Jordan Tripp

“Jordan will play every position on the field except D-tackle.”

I like the sounds of using Jordy all over the field. Blitzing, falling back into coverage like a SS and playing DE and rush OLB when we are in a 3-4....Ty sounds like he plans on playing a lot of 3-4 to capitalize on our LB talent this year. As long as the CB's can continue to develop and stay healthy to help give Tripp time to get to the QB... I'm predicting a Buck Buchanan award for #37 this season :thumb:

what are the chances of seeing some 3-3-5 with 2 of the cb's being lb's? I was impressed with Nova's D using that but you don't see many doing it. I think it would really throw some teams off.

I think it could be a great wrinkle, given Tripps ability to cover like a safety. I don't think we have the overall depth in the secondary to run a 3-3-5 consistently though...maybe a few series during the year if we are up against an inexperienced QB could be fun....or possibly break it out come Griz-Cat/Playoff time. Having a player as versatile as Tripp really helps open up the playbook....In the end, I highly doubt we play any 3-3-5 but its a fun hypothetical to think about.

2 years ago a senior on defense told me that Tripp could start in the Pac-12 (then Pac-10). The dude is such a versatile athlete, a great blitzer and quick in coverage too.

I can't believe he's just a Junior. Keeping my fingers crossed he can stay healthy. His versatility is a HUGE asset and he should get some attention from scouts if he can stay healthy.

Agreed, I don't think we can run it all the time, but like you said, great wrinkle and the blitz can come from ANYWHERE

I could see Tripp being the best player on a handful of Pac 12 defenses and starting for any team except maybe USC (depending on their personnel) . He is the LB equivalent of Tru, but has a better head on his shoulders, is a much better leader and has better speed for his position. He doesn't have the elite size for his position like Tru, but at 6'3.5" 245lbs is plenty big (Clay Matthews 6'3" 255lb.) If he can thrive in Gregorak's system and stay healthy, he could be 2-3 round draft pick and grab a Buck Buchanan award or two :thumb:
