I just don’t see the big deal. He wasn’t wanted in Missoula by Stitt. He needed a job. One came open, coincidentally in the same city his wife had gotten a job, right in his wheelhouse.

There may be a lot of handwringing and teeth gnashing on this site, but I guarantee you there’s not a soul on here who wouldn’t do the same thing he did under the circumstances to put food on the table.

And if you say you wouldn’t the only person you’re lying to is yourself.

That being said, I want Andy Thomson as DC.

You do realize that it wasn't his only job opportunity at the time. So I don't buy the "put food on the table" argument.

Was it his only job opportunity in Bozeman? Where I understand his wife was the volleyball coach?

Was she?

Nope. Her parents had moved to Bozeman, or at least live there now. She had played volleyball for the Cats. TG wanted to work close enough to Mpls where his son by his first marriage lives.

That article does not make me feel and sympathy for him at all. I hope he never coaches for the Griz again.

What about guys like Ferriter or Paulson or Thompson? Are they okay in your eyes because they never coached for the cats? They are all ex griz who apparently have they audacity to coach in the bsc against the griz and that’s okay with you and you call yourself some kind of fan?

Yes. It might be different if Gregorak waited a few years after leaving Missoula. Everybody has a right to get a job, but nobody has to like it.

I forget, was Ty fired at Montana or did he quit?

He quit to take the DC role for the cats. I think that was most people's beef. It's not like he was fired and beating the streets for work or left for a head coaching role...he made a lateral move to the most hated rival.

He didn't quit.

He may have been “allowed to quit” to save face, but he was NOT coming back as DC. Stitt wanted Semore, and that was obvious to the most causal observer. Ty was gone, one way or the other.

Oh well. I was close.
Either way, I don’t give two shits that he coached the ‘Scats. Doesn’t concern me in the least. I consider the ‘Scats no different than any other BSC team....

If Bobby wanted Pflu back here as OC are there people here who wouldn’t want him back because he coached at NAU? Or like you said, Paulsen? Thomson? Ferriter?

He was fired by Stitt. He had several choices. An Asst, I think DC, at EWU was one. He took the MSU job because he wanted to work with Choate and liked the idea of living near his wife's family and an easy plane trip to and from Mpls, where his son lived. Shortly after accepting the job, he was offered the DC at Hawaii, where a bunch of ex Griz coaches had gone. He decided to stay with his decision with Choate and MSU. MSU beat UM 3 years in a row with TG as the DC. A Cat player, a starter, told me after the first year, that players loved TG and TG was the reason MSU had beaten UM.

I don't doubt for a second that the cat players loved him as much as his Griz players did. He's as passionate as anyone about the game. Player's coach for sure.

I believe I read that here, so it MUST be true...

It must be unless it isn't.

Exactly my thought. It either is or isn’t true. Has to be one of those.

Ah... Schrödinger's fact!

After the initial visceral reaction to him coaching for the cats, I started to just wish him well. He’s a good guy that got some bad breaks and was fortunate enough to land somewhere that valued his talents. For a while at least. After being passed over when Booger left and being treated like trash by Stitt, I don’t blame him at all. Plus it’s not like he was a Griz player, just a coach.

You have been in Arizona too long. If you don't understand that coaching at NAU is not the same as coaching at MSU I don't know what to tell you.

TG told me he was force out by Stitt..I don't think he had a lot respect for Stitt so why not go
to the Cats for sweet revenge and he got it..obviously he has a lot of respect for Bobby..btw I
would take Pflug back in new York minute..

Not at the expense of Rosy I wouldn't...

I don’t have any animosity toward they guy, and don’t blame him for his decision, which many would consider in line with a long history of poor decision making.

I just don’t really give two shits about him; not even enough to spend 90 seconds reading the article.

The article is mostly on the rivalry, not TG. It's a very good article.

And you take being a "fan" waaaaay too seriously.

most of you people are idiots. You would shit yourself if TG said boo to you. He did what he wanted to do, more power to him. Took a hell of a lot of courage as he knew what was at stake. Never let some freaking forum junkie sway his decision. I have met him and talked to him several times, class act which is more than I can say for many posters here.

Hell I hope they fire Choke and hire TG as the new head coach.
