Greatest Individual Griz Seasons(QB/RB/WR)

Going through the record books recently and wanted to pay homage to some of the greatest, unrecognized individual seasons in Griz history. Most know that the records don't reflect playoff stats pre '02 which has always been a pet peeve of mine, especially since some of our greatest players played pre '02. I have a top 5 for QB's, RB's, and WR's with playoff stats included. Dave's '95 season, Yo's '01 season, and Joe Douglas's '96 season were epic and should be legendary, if more folks knew about them. What truly inspired this though was wondering how Keali’i's and Eli's current seasons stack up. I know the season is not done yet but with potentially three more games to go, these two have the opportunity to place themselves near the top of these list. We are watching legends in the making.

DD was the greatest, but he didn't hit 75% of his passes in 1995. Counting the playoffs, he completed 431-624 (69.07%).

What’s crazy is Ah Yat is just a sophomore and has hopefully 3 games remaining to add to this season’s stats.

At this point, Keali'i's completion percentage for the season is the best in Griz history, just above DD's in 1995
I thought I remembered that including playoffs DD had 75% completion in 95. I distinctly remember the announcers in the NC bringing that up. Maybe not.

Just went back to the record book and looked it up. 69.07%. 431-624.

And lest anyone think they're dunking on KAY because "but, he has 8 interceptions this year"--DD had 11 in '95 (admittedly, he threw a metric sh-t ton more passes, but still...).

What were Dickensons numbers during the playoffs in 95?

That is insane for a season are you sure thats right?

Wow, that must have been something to watch him play
It was incredible. Thing is he could kill you with his feet too and often did. Ahead if his time. His ability to read and then pick apart a defense was next to black magic. Was too far ahead of the times for the NFL but he is a Legend in Canada. He is Super Dave the Legend of the Fall and if he didn't play for MT he would have been a household name.

DD and KAY's dad ran a very different offense than what KAY is running. DD threw about 9 more passes per game than KAY has thrown this year. Air Bear averaged just 113 yards / game rushing. It was pass first, pass second, pass third, and throw in a run or three every drive just to keep the defense honest. The Griz in those days ran every flavor of screen you can name, ran them all well, and had receivers like Wells, Ehrhardt, and Douglass who could make you pay with YAC (all three had more than 1,000 yards receiving and 11 or more TDs).

And yes, it was a blast to watch. Almost no team could stop it. The closest the Griz came to being stopped was in the championship game, against a Marshall team with several future NFL guys on it. DD was sacked ten times, yet still had the stones at the end of the game to drive the Griz for the winning field goal.

You are correct. This is what makes following the grizzly record book frustrating. There are a lot of inconsistencies throughout. Ive intiated a few corrections in the past with Taber but theres still plenty out there. I offered him to allow me go through the stats and correct the record books but he hasn't taken me up on my offer yet😂.

Just curious, which record book are you looking at? I only know of the GoGriz record book and it only credits Dave's '95 season with 67.9%, good for 3rd. Thats the percentage of his regular season total of 309 completions and 455 attempts. The stats page on the other hand has the totals for all 15 games.
