Great quote by Jamaal Jones

PlayerRep

Well-known member
Responding to a question about how good the SDS defense is, perhaps the best in their conference, Jones said this:

"(T)hey play confident and it'll be a challenge for us," began Montana receiver Jamaal Jones. "I think because of what we've done the last few weeks and because of who we have on offense, it'll be a challenge for them too."

This morning, checking in at the Arctic Club hotel in Seattle, I was wearing my Griz sweatshirt, and the lady at the desk hollers out, "GO GRIZ!" I thought she was just being polite, but it turned out she is a huge Griz fan, and is engaged to marry Jamaal's older brother. She is Jamaal's biggest fan. Small world.

Indeed a small world and the Griz have a damn good pipeline established in the northwest. If PSU ever got a stadium worth a crap - things could get interesting in the NW. Thank goodness that does not seem to be on the near horizon. I have a feeling Mr. Jones and company are going to hang one on the Jacks. I don't believe this game will be as close as everyone is predicting. Griz win by three scores.

PSU actually has a damn-good stadium... The only thing that's keeping them down is their consistency. If they can find ways to continue to win like they are this season, then things will get interesting in the NW.

I am not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. IMO the stadium is not one of the nicest in FCS. If it is - the FCS is really in trouble. Maybe that is the larger point here. The quality of FCS stadiums is so poor that PSU's is considered nice.

Providence Park is just a nice stadium, it IS a very nice stadium. It's a 22,000 seat stadium and if PSU could pack that place, it'd be a very tough place to win. Granted that this image is of a soccer game crowd, the atmosphere would be very good if PSU drew the same crowd numbers. I went to a Timbers game the week of our matchup with PSU and was blown away. The Stadium has great potential if PSU can draw larger crowds.

Agreed on their stadium

Portland is a huge soccer town, blazers town big time. Those who need the FB fix get it in Eugene or Corvallis. I would be surprised if PSU ever got more following given their circumstances.

I guess that is my point get em and I did not articulate it well. It is not a football stadium for PSU. Regardless the size, seating capacity, etc. - it does not feel like a college football stadium that belongs to the Vikings or their fan base. The stadium feels like a shared communal facility and it looks/feels like a soccer stadium that belongs in the UK. Not knocking it to be a d**k. I am simply pointing out the difference between programs and if I am a recruit looking at both schools, there really is no comparison.
