I’m an outspoken critic of BH2.0, and that won’t change anytime soon, but I also believe in giving credit where credit is due.
Congrats to the players and coaches. Both the offense and the defense showed a lot of improvement. It seems like this team is starting to find an identity on both sides of the ball. Younger players are really starting to step up. An McDowell is getting more comfortable and noticeably confident. That’s a great sign,
I do wish he would have kept working to bounce it outside on that last 4 and 2 play instead of stopping and then cutting inside back towards the mass of humanity that was in pursuit. I think that is part of him still being a relatively inexperienced QB, so hopefully he studies film and continues to grow as a player.
Also, the offensive line looked better than it has all year. The defensive line, well the entire front seven looked the best they have all year. The pass rush is improved and the take aways were quite literally the difference in the game. I’m still not sure how 80 kept getting wide open, but again, hopefully it’s something they can study and improve upon.
Special teams was also big. Glasgow’s long field goals were, well, they too were literally the difference in the game. And I don’t believe Idaho had a kick-off return.
So again, from a guy who is not known for blowing smoke, great job. Great win. Go Griz.
