From gogriz.com:

"The 19th annual "Great Griz Encounter," a meet-and-greet event of the University of Montana's 2014 football team and once again sponsored by the Providence St. Patrick Hospital, will take place on Thursday, August 21, downtown in Caras Park. The event is held in conjunction with the Missoula Downtown Association's weekly "Downtown Tonight" function. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. with live music by Tom Catmull's Radio Static band.

The 2014 Griz football team will be featured at the annual gathering. Montana's 2014 All-American and Honors Candidates, and Griz Head Coach Mick Delaney, will be introduced at 6:30 p.m. After that, all of the Griz players will sign posters until around 8:30 p.m.

Due to the large amount of fans wishing to get autographs, there is a two-item limit.

Licensed vendors will also be on hand selling Grizzly merchandise and apparel, including the official T-shirt for the "White Out" game on Sept. 13, when Montana plays South Dakota."

Darn, I wish I knew about this earlier. I am already going in a different direction - mountain bike ride with group of guys here in Polson.

The lack of press on this has been astounding. Is it even mentioned in the Missoulian today?

Good. Didn't see the paper today. That should help a bit. Hope there isn't a downpour.

I'm thinking about taking my kiddo down there.. I'm sure Monte will be there. Right? He loves Monte! That would make his day getting his picture taken with him..

Any notable points to the evening. Did MD inspire, etc.? I wish I could have been there, but on a side note, the mountain bike ride was awesome with 8 other riders.

The best speakers were Delaney and Guffey. Weather held fine. Engsrom and Haslam also there. Cooler evening, but in a good way. Good crowd. Dancers have only 8 this year. Cheer squad has 23 girls and 5 guys. Definitely some hotties. Both corners are honors candidates. Hermie all-american candidate. The crowd and kids seemed to be having a good time. Qvale and Selvig there, and Qvale's wife and daughter. He's off to the Hornets. Former coach Tom Hauck and some of the Hauck family. Tom's a great guy. Good spirit squad performances. Good music. Good beer and food.

I wrote this in another thread, but this deserves to be posted in this topic as well:

A couple of comments from visiting with players at last evening's Great Griz Encounter. First and foremost, though, those players were amazing with the way they dealt with the crowd and especially my little ones - you can tell they really enjoy the hometown support. Wags is an absolute treasure with how kind and respectful he is to the fan base. He took an amazing picture with my oldest daughter, one that she will always love. Thank you players and coaches for all that you give back!!
