great game

against naia rocky?

is the future of griz hoops not so rosy as we all thought?

Rocky is picked their league for starters and it seems the Griz didn't come ready to play. They are getting schooled on the glass which is a pretty good sign they were not mentally prepared to play. That is inexcusable to get doubled on the boards by anyone, much less a team like Rocky.

This is a coaching mistake. This should not happen with this talent. I am surprised!!

Rocky played a damn good game. 71% in the first half  ! Griz clamped down a bit in the second half. But Rocky still shot about 55% for the game.

Overall not an impressive game by the Griz. Hopefully they can practice crashing the boards a little more and better than they did tonight. (Out rebounded 31-20, and gave up 10 offensive boards. Not only Ri, but diculous as well!)

A tad premature don't you think? I recall previous head coaches LOSING to the likes of Simon Fraser. In the 04-05 season the griz beat ROCKY MOUNTAIN 73-67. Were you saying coaching mistake after that game?? :twocents:

look forward to a game report.

seems a few players not named strait or hasquet began to step up to their hype--swift, chase, staudacher.

City,

How about Stads? 3-4 from trey land :thumb:

Tinkel said in the post game interview that he takes responsibility for not having them ready. He said that he work them extra hard yesterday which probably was'nt wise with a game the next day. He is giving them the next two days off. He agrees that not everybody is mentally ready to play a full game and he will address that. He also said he was very thankful for the bench stepping up and bailing the starters out.

In the post game KGVO interview, Tinkle singled out Staudacher and Chase as having fine games. Gus really improved over his showing in the first exhibition game. Austin Swift had 12 points and was dead on with 4 straight free throws at the end of the game.

I remember once hearing that @ one time the Eastern Montana Yellowjackets defeated Texas A & M when they were rated #7 in the country. This way back in the early eighties or sooner I believe.

I also did see a small school (Portland Pilots) defeat Texas A & M in a tournament at Dahlberg back in the eighties as well. The Aggies had some transfer from UCLA & Portland's PG was a dynamo @ 5' 7."

Some of them smaller schools can sometimes bring it regardless of their classification.

This thread is filled with overreacting and the sky is falling. Its exactly what the Griz need, somebody exploiting some potential weaknesses.

And somebody ought to give Rocky a little credit, they get scholarships too and aren't there to lay down. From their performances in Dalhberg over the past few years, its obvious that Rocky and Carroll play some pretty good basketball.

Last year Carroll lost to MSU by 3 after leading all game and beat Idaho State the previous year. Those two schools in particular are decent competition for the Griz. Now the UGFs and Westerns of the world are a whole new story.

Anyway, the Griz will be fine. They have great talent and coaching. Once they develop their roles and someone emerges as a leader, things will get rolling.

i must disagree, loyal griz - i don't see much of any "over-reacting" on this thread. just a couple of folks wondering if the outlook for the hoops team isn't as rosy as we all thought.

I was speaking to the lack of preparation mentally. They were not ready for a game tonight. No I have not lost any confidence in Wayne, I just think it was his job to get them up and ready for play. We have the talent but we weren't in the game tonight. I think we will have a great season and we have a fine coach. I just think the coach didn't have them prepared tonight. Just my opinion

Yeah, uhh, the coach so needs to get them ready!!! Wow. Yikes. Yep, the benches really did bail out the starters. Hmmm. Hope this team will improve some. Yeah.

This is just as I predicted. Tinkles teams will be lazy on defense, selfish on offense, falter down the stretch, and begin to blame others for losses.

The program will have a slow demise because Tinkle will not be a good head coach.

The carry over from coach K seems to have dissipated much faster than I thought.

Why would a head coach call players out in the paper after the first loss and start pointing fingers? A loss to a bunch of gym rat midgets who happen to play in the NAIA division. Can't you put a hand up on D and block the midgets shot?

Shouldn't he keep that type of stuff inside the locker room? At least he also said my bad and "I take full responsiblity" then later talks about "bailing the starters out".

Didn't you pick the starters Wayne. Your go to guys got beat by Rocky. RMC comes to our house a gets a W???

No heart.

It takes a winner to make a winner. Wayne needs to exit coaching and enter the world of politics cuz he ain't nuthin but BS :finger: :finger: :finger:

Ok, after reading your post that makes sense. I posted the same thing and Tinks took the blame for that is his comments postgame. I am glad to see you are not in the beastie camp. Beastie must have thought he had game, never got a look, now hates Tinks.

beastie,

You are as clueless as they come. LK's team only beat Rocky 73-67 and not a peep from you. My guess is you got caught leering at Tink's daughter, Tinks was about to rip your head off, so now you are gonna get him posting nonsense. You have proven by your posts you are simply a hater, and know nothing about basketball. :loser:
