tinks looking for "several transfers?"

What bothers me is that there is no mention of Kareem Jamar as far as incoming recruits are concerned. The other 3 incoming freshman are named. Yikes!

He isn't mentioned in this article because Coach T can't comment on a recruit until he has signed on the dotted line. Right?

I didn't realize the other 3 had signed. This is a relief. :)

Coaches can not talk about or even mention player they are recruiting. Since Jamar has only committed and will not officially sign until next month it would be an NCAA violation if had mentioned Jamar.

but it opens up the possiblity that one of the transfers is thurman woods.

I mentioned on another thread, and questioned that happening. In the last few weeks I heard that from 2 other people, one in CA and one in Missoula. Neither of which are egriz posters. Is it possible Tinkle told Woods it would be best to play it safe, and he could keep that scholarship open for him this coming year? I have been wondering about that 1 scholarship since Woods left.

As mentioned on another thread, I want either another true PG or another post (6'8" plus that can score and REBOUND). Then again, I am hoping Hutchison or Reader are already that guy.

I have heard a rumor today that the Griz BB has filled all of their roster/scholarships for 2010 class. Can not confirm yet though, but they have canceled some recruiting trips.

I would take it that they anticipate Jamar will stick with his verbal.... :thumb:

I'm confused as to why Tinkle would indicate that he's looking to sign "several transfers" this year.

There are 4 seniors who have exhausted their eligiblity (AJ, Banny, Staud, McGillis) and there are 4 players who have committed (Autry, Reader, Weisner, and Jamar)

Unless there are current players who are leaving the team or one or more of the committed recruits isn't coming, I'm not sure where Tinkle will find room for his "several transfers".

Did he not use his full allotment of scholarship last year? Is someone leaving? Is a recruit not howing up? Are the transfers for the '11-12 season? Is Tinkle punking everyone?

D-1 schools get 13 D-1 scholarships

Next year returners (assuming no defections in the off season) Total - 8
Young
Cherry
Taylor
Stockton
Selvig
Ward
Qvale
Hutchison

Signings Total 3
Vaughn
Reader
Weisner

Commits (known by me) Total 1
Jamar

That is 12 scholarships by my count

If Tinkle signs more than one athlete this fall then one of the above athletes will most likely be on the roster.

From where I heard my info it was said that not only had the Griz filled all of their spots, but may have over committed.

The three November signees are guaranteed their scholarships they can not be taken away unless the do not qualify academically or THEY choose to not to accept it. Commits are not guaranteed anything until the sign a LOI. Returnees are not guaranteed anything until they are offered and accept their scholarship (renewal) some time in May - to June.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned this. We could lose Michael Taylor. I hear from a source he still wants to pursue baseball too. Baseball organizations have been in touch with him in the last year. I do not know what his plan is or where this will go. If I am him though, I go tryout and see what the results are. If he shows something he may have a hard decision to make to pursuit baseball via the minors or play one last year of basketball?

Either way, Michael is a great kid from a great family. I hope he is back next year. As for Stockton, I think he is here to stay.

Doesn't Taylor have two more years remaining? Or are you just assuming he would play one year to see how he fits in post-Staudacher?
