Im guessing they made the stadium/field look darker to make the Champions Center stand out more. If every color in the illustration were correct we would also be seeing teal colored stadium seats.

I understand the question though, I would hate to see a non-green field come to the stadium.

I'm pretty sure this is the real reason for the darker, non-green field in the sketch. (I certainly hope so!) It just kinda stood out with the maroon endzones and the bear at midfield still being close to their normal colors.

After all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over EWU's red carpet.....it would be pretty funny if Washington-Grizzly stadium ended up with colored turf.

I don't think the wailing and gnashing is because of colored turf in general, as there have been several stadiums where colored turf has been tastefully installed. I believe it has more to do with solid red, eye strain and the fact that red is a very difficult color to reproduce on a television broadcast because it appears fuzzy and pixelated.
