IMHO I don't think it would be a bad hire to bring Hauck back. All he did was win here. Things were semi stagnant at times, but we were always competitive, some years at the highest level. If Hauck wants to come back, my guess is that he wants to finish what he tried to do in his first run and that's to win the big one. Who the hell is going to complain about getting a coach that bleeds maroon and silver and wants a championship every year?

He's had time away, competed at the next level, and has probably learned a thing or two, regardless of how successful UNLV was, and they'll never be successful. What kind of decent parent would send their kid to Las Vegas for college? Missoula was crazy enough for me.

Maybe Hauck recruited some of the kids that got into trouble, but they weren't in that much trouble when he was coaching here.

Lol, a parent that trusts their kid in the sense they want to go out of state and spend less than what would be spent at UM. That was my parents. Wasn't going to MSU for architecture...

No, I am in the "they botched the search and are now left holding a near empty bag" camp. And that is not so much due to time, but just how they conducted the search.

If they wind up with Ty after all this it would indicate their search found no one.

I gotta bad feeling...this is what the big sky conference will say when bh returns to griz nation. give me special teams, defense and halftime adjustments. Those that point to his record at unlv...what are reasonable expectations at unlv? He took that program to a bowl game. Some point to his character. A dick who won 80% of his games...works for me. Felt he sold out and abandoned the program? That's how this works! It's called career trajectory. Recruiting? He can still point to a half dozen current nfl players. Didn't win the big game? James Madison had a stud defense, Richmond dline was impressive, and the qb from nova was special. Were we favored in any of those? He also won several big time playoff games. 2009 alone was legendary. Swagger? "I wish there was a fith quarter so we could kick their a$$ some more!" bobby is the middle finger on the sideline that griz nation craves. I've read a lot about comparing apples to apples, d2 vs d1 when considering other candidates... Bh's fcs record is a granny smith to the face. Hauck isn't perfect but he's proven. The argument about new blood is valid. But bobby can ball and a highly motivated, ready to prove his success wasn't a fluke, pissed off hauck is the coach I want. Go griz forever!

We will likely again have the best defense in the BSC, which has nothing to do with whether it would be good enough to stop NDSU. NDSU (and Illinois St.) are playing at a level that is very un-BSC-like. To be competitive we will need better offense and ST performance to take some of the pressure off the D. Unlikely the new coach will have that going by the first game.
