Good Job Coach Stitt! Like my 5th grade football coach used to say...

That's reassuring. In the hands of the guy who was ready to shut down the football program. In theory, anyone could be expelled for any alleged offense. Our Judge Roy Bean.

JFC. Give it a rest.

The football program is doing just fine, thank you, and many of us are happy that we aren't dealing with all the shit we did a few years back. The one game suspension is appropriate.

Stitt had no choice. None. Let the kid play after an arrest for fighting and you basically tell your entire team that anything goes. This is bad for program and the player, but rules only work when there are consequences for breaking them.

Some "company" for Gamboa:
PITTSBURGH (AP) Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi has announced wide receiver Tyler Boyd and defensive end Rori Blair are suspended for the Sept. 5 opener against Youngstown State.

Boyd, a 1,000-yard receiver in each of his first two seasons at Pitt, was charged with DUI in June. The All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team selection was pulled over in June south of Pittsburgh. Boyd told police he had two shots of alcohol.

Blair, who led the Panthers with 5.5 sacks in 2014, was charged with driving under the influence of a drug after he was clocked at 117 mph in March.

Narduzzi said the players will be subject to additional internal discipline. The first-year coach said the situations are "very disappointing" and that both players expressed remorse.
Of course, they're only lost for an FCS-opponent game ... but there it is.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) Wake Forest has suspended two football players from the team and added a graduate transfer.

Coach Dave Clawson on Tuesday said defensive back Thomas Brown will be suspended for one game and offensive lineman Ryan Anderson will miss five games. Both players violated undisclosed team rules, and Clawson says both players will practice during their suspensions.

Later in the day, the Demon Deacons announced the addition of defensive back Deven Gaulden, a graduate transfer from Wisconsin who can play immediately. Gaulden started five of the Badgers' 14 games last season.

Brown played in all 12 games last season with one start. He will miss the Sept. 3 opener against Elon. Anderson redshirted as a freshman last year and won't play until the Boston College game Oct. 10.
It happens. And I suspect these won't be the last. Not trying to make light of what happened in Griz-land, but let's not act like its "the end of civilization as we know it" either.

Gamboa got what he deserved. Tier III, it's in writing. Objective criteria. Still waiting on Kose. Putting anything in REs hands turns subjective. His judgment is questionable, at best. I won't be giving it a rest til he's GONE.

Note, Statler, that the penalties for first time Tier III infractions don't include game suspensions.

".....In the event that the ACT cannot reach a consensus decision on appropriate penalties, the decision will be deferred to the University President."

Yikes, anything to avoid that. Sit out the game and behave the rest of the year.

(Nightmares of NCAA/Engstrom deals)

Suspensions from team activities would include practices, games, read your own post before you start spouting off !

Nope, suspension from team activities does not include suspension from games. In the penalties for 2d or 3d time Tier III infractions and other more serious infractions, "suspensions from scheduled contests" is a specific category. Game suspensions are not included as a penalty for first time Tier III violations. Why are some of the Cat posters so stupid?

I certainly understand the "legalistic" hair-splitting described here. And I agree with making a distinction between "ordinary" team activities and "games." But I find it weird that ... by this wording ... an actual game, against another team, is [somehow] not a "team activity." That's what happens when you get the lawyers involved, and you don't really think about what you're saying.

Thank you PR for the clarification. Objective criteria were ignored, and subjective judgment mandated, apparently. By whom? I can see it now, 'this is what I expect the penalty shall be, and I do.your evaluation.'

OMFG.

This might be the Playa post of the year!

Well done, sir. I know it had to be a joke because there's no fucking way you could be serious. Credit where credit is due. You don't normally have any sense of humor, but that right there was one funny assed post!! Kudos!

But does he "know" Jill?

Jack fell down, but secretly didn't really break his crown, and brought a negligence suit against Jill, who has never played the Fetch the Water game before.

PRs posts the last few days have been a fucking joke. At first I thought the whole 'not showing up for a court appointment isn't disrespectful to the court' thing was satire. Amazingly it wasn't. Still scratching my head on that one. Now the whole 'this doesn't deserve a one game suspension' crap. Guys like PR are why some programs ultimately end up in big trouble. I applaud the vast majority of posters on here for recognizing how perfectly Stitt handled this situation. Textbook.

Come on. Fair or not, what you old jocks and wannabees consider tough, what used to be ok and accepted----the reality of the situation is that our football players cant be so stupid and irresponsible in this day and age. They have to understand accountability and the real world--however jaded. Have a few drinks and pick a fight you pay the price when the cops come. Lets get over it. We have no leeway. Thank god we don't get an investigation by the Department of Education or the ASPCA and have to confess judgment on a whole new set of beer party rules.

Discipline, accountability and consequences. Old world values that are not so bad. This is what will bring the program back, not a bunch of whining or excuses .

You continue to amuse everyone including me. (Waiting for your typical name calling "insult" in 3...2...1...)

As I said, alot of Cat posters are idiots. Let us know who's willing to bet $100 on whether, in the UM athletic code, "suspension from team activities" equals "suspension from scheduled contests" (i.e. suspensions from games). Send your $100 to Titleist, and I will do the same. Then, I'll produce an email from the athletic department backing up my view.

Sorry, but if we have reached a point where a player getting in a fight (which this wasn’t much of one) is an earth-shattering event, then this program has fallen in more ways than one.

You guys should have been in around the team in the mid to late 90’s.

I understand “cleaning up the program” needed to happen, but now we are going too far the other direction. If you want a bunch of soft, panty waist kids you can go watch Hellgate High play on Friday night for free.

I was at UM from 92-97. The guys I ran around with that played for the GRIZ were by no means "a bunch of soft, panty waist kids!" Even though some WERE from Hellgate, haha! They were quite the contrary- honor students, stalwart citizens and National Champs! None of them ever got thrown in jail for any of this kind of stuff. A clean program by NO MEANS equates to a weak program. But, not having the internet to dig up every little thing did help :thumb:
