I was at UM from 1994-1997. Student section was rowdy for BIG GAMES ONLY! Pretty minimal for all others. I can say that in those years, the ENTIRE football team was NOT at EVERY game. In fact, I was in the student section for many games where David Kempfert was the ONLY football player there (in the student section that is). And I never ONCE saw DD in the student section getting rowdy. Maybe it was better in the 1990-1994 teams as those were some GREAT teams, but for my years there, the student section was not that much better than it seems to be now. ONLY difference was, it was before the Dahlberg remodel and our student section was courtside opposite the benches and scorers table. Still the old wooden bleacher days. Pretty fun to jump up and down on.

Here's a crazy idea, why doesn't the University put another grandstand (or should I say "bleachers") at the other end of the court - aka the non student end?

From what I see its just filled with some pretty crappy seats on a flat ground and rarely looks filled, infact they have some bare area used (rarely) for media. It actually makes the other end of the court look empty/boring. So chuck some bleachers in there and open it up to students also, They can also get the spectators on that end more into the game.

That way, there are more courstide/closer to the action seats for students AND the people who pay for season courtside seats can stay where they are. It will also have students intimidating the opposition from both ends of the court.

It would be a good start if the students numbers stay up, if they keep both those stands filled then perhaps their will be more of a case for getting the old courtside seats back in future seasons. which is the ultimate goal..

Upon further inspection, the other end is infact dedicated to the students, so nobody can complain . So why is there no legitimate grandstand/bleachers there???



Somebody should get onto UM and request that they are there - especially if UM gets to host the tourney. (I'd do it myself but Im from Australia and nobody really cares what we think )

the south end area (with the folding seats) is used for parent and family seating now (comp tickets for players and cheer staff family). I wouldn't expect them to be rowdy or loud. they used to be a standing only section for the students for a while, it was Kennedy's Krazies section when he was here, had a special T shirt and everything.

thats not true. you guys make good beer so that counts for something! The south floor level section is a joke and needs to be addressed. :thumb:

well im sure the parents can hang with the students. they wont bite. that end of the court needs to be addressed IMO
