Until Hauck graduates, you’re stuck with Subpar coverage skills from his spot. Have to hope the rush gets there more often than not the rest of the season.

If he has subpar coverage skills, how do you think he gets on all these all-American, pre-season all American, all-conference and pre-season all-conference teams, and has for years?

While this may be more true than not, he is an All American...and stopping the run is absolutely essential in the playoffs.

I'll take a play over the top every now and then...in exchange for shutting down the run as it is the key to winning the natty.

I’m never gonna stop booing the visitors

I have been to at least a dozen FBS stadiums...they ALL boo the opposing team when they enter the stadium. Makes college football special....the students.

Doesn’t bother me but I really would like to see the whole stadium be dead quiet during that time, then erupt when the Griz come out soon after. We have been a pretty knowledgeable crowd, but I think we could step our game up. The crowd didn’t do the Montana..Grizzlies chant in either game. Good way to kill time and keep the energy up during those long TV timeouts. I also think if the entire stadium could yell BOOM when we kick off. Just different things we could do to add to the mystique of our stadium.

What's up with the no Montana Grizzlies chant? Why? That has always been a staple...

The Montana-Griz chant was down in at least onetime. I think the last one. Early in game.

Must have been our worst, shortest rendition as I didn’t notice.

We all did it yesterday. Organic, started on its own and was loud and awesome. Go Griz!

The teams they lost to last year exploited it. Good O/C’s - will continue to do so. It was/is the pass rush that kept it from being a bigger issue because it takes longer to get open over the top. He’s an all American because he’s the best tackler on the team, not by gaudy numbers numbers, but by technique & consistency. Great in run support because it’s in front of him.

Good post. All true...gotta take some bad with a whole bunch of good.

In my experience and view, secondary players who are good or very good at tackling but deficient at pass coverages, don't make all-conference or all-American teams. Of course, one element may be stronger than the other, but I don't think it can be deficient or subpar. I have paid a lot of attention to secondary play since I played cornerback in college, back in the day. Yes, Hauck is better at tackling and stopping the run, but he is not subpar in coverage, unless by subpar, you mean not perfect. Of SD's 6 receivers who caught passes, only 2 had catches over 9. Longs of 31 and 23. Yes, I saw the long overthrow over the middle.

Montana - -- Grizzlies chant that I remember started during a TV timeout and was just getting going when the crowd realized we were on offense when the timeout ended. It ended quickly....which was good, that didn't happen on all past games. Many times the crowd was having fun, not paying attention and too loud for us to be on offense

Bad:

Not having enough pissers in the tailgate areas!! They add more people to the parking lot because they have gotten rid of areas for new construction, but don't add more outhouses. A couple of more per lot couldn't hurt!

I so agree, and have said so for years!

What baffles me is that Baer knows the limitations of three safeties on the field @ all times and doesn’t compensate by adjusting to an extra corner to cover the slot in later passing downs or long yardage. This could be managed by moving Hauck into the box - pull one of your blitzers and replace him with a corner to cover the slot. He’d be blitzing himself - which he’s shown he can do, or shadowing a QB, covering a back in the flat, etc. The backers don’t all blitz at once very often and it would be a wash in terms of having Hauck or one of them cover a back, account for the QB run etc.

A perfect example from this past season was EWU moving Jines to the slot, forcing the safeties to cover him. There are four or five competent corners now. Like I said, the word is out and the good O/c’s are going to exploit it again this season.

The booing is par for the course in any stadium. Mandatory for the scat games in WGS. You think THEY don't boo the Griz at their place? Watch that game this year, and get ready to eat you words. I don't know what kind of condiments go with Crow, but I'll do some research for ya. Plenty of time.
Home field advantage. They have to come, and go, in front of the NEZ Crazies. I don't recall booing any team AFTER the games. In fact, some applaud their efforts on their way out. Some places can't say the same. Remember back when Cookus got tossed for targeting and had to LEAVE THE FIELD in front of the NEZ Crazies? I'd bet if he was asked about THAT experience, he'd have a very vivid memory of the walk, and an even better excuse. It would be great to have him on a blood pressure monitor before and after being asked to recall that experience. That mercury column would break through the top.

You are much more pious than I, because I will always "boo" the opposing team, cheer their mistakes, hope they look ridiculous, and pray they get embarrassed enough to cancel their football program. I guess I'm not as good as you as a human.
